Wrapped In You
The Monroes #1

In Wrapped in You (The Monroes #1) by Jules Bennett, Zach Monroe hasn't been able to forgive himself for causing the accident that hurt the woman he's always had feelings for and one of his brothers. But when his sister dies, and leaves him and his two brothers a property dating back to the Civil War era, Zach must face his past when Sophie brings him an offer to buy the property. Should he take it or do something with the property that could honor his sister's memory?
Sophie hates the fact that Zach locked her out of his life after the accident that changed both their lives. But when she presents him with an offer to buy the Civil War era property his sister left him and his brothers, she's decided enough is enough. Can she break down the walls he's placed around his heart, and bring other emotions besides guilt and anger to the forefront before it's too late?
This is the first book I've read by Ms. Bennett, but I've got to say that it won't be the last. This fast-paced story encompassing the sister's best friend trope, a heroine determined to get the hero to move beyond his past, and a hero that finally begins to realize that he shouldn't let his past affect his future was riveting from start to finish. I really liked how it started with Sophie ambushing the three brothers (Zach, Liam and Braxton) with the offer she has by forcing them to be in the same room together. Luckily, no fights broke out considering that Liam -- the brother that was injured in the accident -- still carries a lot of resentment towards Zach.
I really liked both the main characters as well as the secondary ones. Zach's brothers are determined to help him bring their sister's dream to life, even if one of them was hesitant at first. I liked how the project helped them to bond, to reconnect as brothers. They've had so much pain, so much anger towards each other for too long, especially Zach and Liam.  Then there's the young boy, Brock, that Zach takes under his wing. The boy reminds the hero so much of himself when he was the boy's age. How his parents couldn't have cared less about him, and he's not about to let that happen to Brock.
Sophie is strong, brave, determined, and stubborn. She's sick and tired of Zach pushing her away because he thinks he's protecting her from the chaotic mess of his life. But enough is enough. She's determined to convince him that life is precious, that he needs to get over feeling guilty about the accident. She's moved on from it, realizing that she can't live in the past, so why can't he? If she doesn't blame him for what happened, then why is he still blaming himself? He already paid a big enough price when he went to jail, and has definitely done more than enough to atone for it.
While Zach, his point-of-view was such an emotional roller coaster, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. The accident and his horrible past has toughened him for sure, and I wasn't sure Sophie would be enough to get Zach to forgive himself. However, I was pleased that he came around and I liked how he got Brock to help him win Sophie back.
There was such strong chemistry between Zach and Sophie, even though the hero finds it hard to look at the heroine without remembering the accident. Yet, I was glad he could get past it because Sophie needed him just as much as he needed her, if they were to ever heal from everything that happened in the past.  Sophie's determination to get Zach to open up to her, to show him that he deserves to be happy, despite the fact that he believes otherwise was fantastic. Because once Sophie got past his walls, the story heated up through hot sex scenes.
Overall, this was a really good book filled with plenty of emotion, well-written dialogue, and left me wanting more of the Monroe brothers. Ms. Bennett wrapped this story up perfectly, even if Sophie's parents annoyed me with their disapproval of Zach in Sophie's life. Hello! She's an adult, and can be with whoever she wants. However, the words and the picture Zach used to win Sophie back had me cheering for this couple. Because after all they'd been through in the past, they deserved the happiness that was finally coming to them. I would recommend Wrapped in You by Jules Bennett, if you enjoy the sister's best friends trope, or like reading books where a hero and heroine to heal from the hurts of their pasts.

BLURB:
The Monroe brothers found a home in Haven, Georgia, thanks to the big-hearted couple who adopted them all. Now, grieving their late sister, these three very different men will come together to honor her memory. And with the help of some unforgettable women, each will find the chance to build a whole new future…

Zach Monroe has made mistakes—big ones. The worst left the girl he loved injured, and his own brother barely speaking to him. It was a night Zach won’t let himself forget, even when the girl in question—perfect, polished Sophie Allen—walks back into his life. A realtor, Sophie’s brought an offer for their sister’s dilapidated Civil War era property. But Zach’s determined to renovate the rambling old place himself—though he longs to rebuild Sophie’s trust in him…

A business deal isn’t how Sophie wanted to approach Zach after all this time, but he won’t let anyone get personal. She can’t deny that the accident changed her life in irreparable ways. But watching gruff, quiet Zach beat himself up year after year hurts too. The wounded boy she once adored needed love, and the man is no different. Now Sophie will need every bit of her resolve to convince Zach to let love heal them both…

While Sophie had been raised to worry what others thought, Zach didn’t give a damn. As a teen, she’d wondered how well that would go over with her proper parents, if she just threw caution to the wind and worried about what made her happy and not the rest of the world. Chelsea had hinted more than once that Zach would be good for Sophie, and vice versa.

Nearly a decade had passed since she and Zach had finally stopped dancing around each other. They were heading toward something that could’ve been remarkable, when all of their lives changed in an instant. Since then, Zach Monroe treated her as if she had the plague, as if he couldn’t stand to be in the same room with her. He’d pushed most people away and nearly worked himself to death . . . and all of that was after he’d gotten out of jail.

Swearing off bad boys, silent seducers, and that pull toward the mysterious, no matter how heavy the temptation, Sophie had opted to move on. For a while she’d been afraid to date, afraid for a man to see the scars she had hidden beneath her clothes. Eventually she realized the scars weren’t going away and she needed a social life. She’d been dating Martin for six months, and they were quite compatible when they could squeeze in dates between their busy schedules. Well, they weren’t so much compatible as they shared similar backgrounds and Sophie’s parents loved him.

But lately she’d been wondering if there should be more to a relationship. Shouldn’t there be sparks or . . . something? Flynn jumped onto the sofa and curled up next to Sophie.

“Great, I’m the cat lady,” she muttered against the next bite of ice cream. “I’ll die old and alone. You’ll probably outlive me.”

She sighed as she dug in for another spoonful. She needed to call Martin and let him know the guys were going to think about the offer. With the way Zach had left abruptly, and Liam still dead set on selling, she truly had no idea which way this decision would go.

Sophie’s cell chimed from her purse she’d left in the kitchen. Normally she’d ignore it, but she had several new listings and she was known for being prompt and professional.

Eyeing the carton of ice cream, she silently promised to return soon. Running as quick as she could allow herself, she pulled the phone from her purse and smiled at the name lighting up her screen.

“Hey, Braxton,” she answered.

“Hey, Sophie. Are you busy?”

His rich tone flooded the line. Of all the Monroe boys, Braxton was the peacemaker, the comforter, the “brainy” one. Braxton and Liam had always been like brothers to Sophie. They’d always treated her as family, and their friendship ran deeper than any bond she’d ever had with her own family.

Then there was Zach. Regardless of the anger she held toward him, there was always some nugget of attraction. After all this time, she figured it was just something she’d have to live with.

And her anger didn’t stem from the accident. Her years of rage stemmed from him blocking out those who cared for him, those who needed to get through the emotional mess with him. Did he even wonder how she was doing, after all that happened? Did he even care that she’d cried and cursed and broken things when he wouldn’t see her?

Gripping the phone, she focused on Braxton and pushed his frustrating brother to the back of her mind.

“Just digging into a dinner of chocolate-chunk ice cream.” She made her way back to the couch.

“I’m good at multitasking, though.”

“I cannot figure out how you live on junk and don’t weigh—”

“I’d watch what I said about a woman’s weight,” she warned with a laugh. “I assume you didn’t call to discuss my pounds or my warped version of dinner.”

“Yeah.” Braxton’s sigh came through loud and clear. “I wanted to apologize for everything earlier. I know you’re just trying to help.”

Propping her feet on the low coffee table, Sophie settled deeper into the corner of her couch. “You may be the most considerate man I know. I put you in an awkward position and you’re calling to apologize to me?”

“You were just giving us all the information so we could do what we wanted,” he told her. “I actually appreciate that you didn’t dance around whatever I would be feeling. It’s Zach and Liam’s behavior that I’m apologizing for, though.”

“I know what I’m getting into with you guys. Liam already texted me and said he was sorry.”

“And Zach?”

Sophie laughed. “I think you know the answer to that.”

Even though she hadn’t expected anything from Zach, his dismissal of her still stung. Did he honestly think he was the only one grieving? Not just Chelsea but years of emotions he held on to were surely going to break him at some point.

Not her problem. She’d moved on.

“I’ve backed out of playing the middleman with those two,” Braxton went on. “They’ll have to actually discuss this if they want to come to an agreement.”

Sophie cringed. “Without you between them as referee, how will they have a conversation without shouting and one of them storming off ?”

“They’re adults. They’ll figure it out.”

“As long as I can tell Martin something by next week, that’s fine.”

“You’ll have an answer,” he promised. “One way or another. I need to get to class, so I’ll talk to you later. Just wanted to apologize for my asshole brother.”

“Can I ask what you’re leaning toward?” Silence answered her question, followed by a sigh. “It’s okay. Just think about it. I’m not judging you guys either way. I know this is hard for everybody.”

“Yeah, it is. That still doesn’t give my brothers the right to go at it in your office. It also doesn’t give Zach the right to be a jerk just because he can’t get a grip on his emotions.”

Sophie dropped her spoon into the carton and set it on the table. “No worries. The animosity with Zach isn’t new.”

“Soph—”

“No.” She came to her feet, sending Flynn to the floor. “It’s fine. I mean, it’s not fine, but it is what it is. Zach has problems he needs to work out on his own. Apparently he’s perfectly content to live inside that shell.”

“I wish someone would knock some sense into him,” Braxton muttered. “I’ll call you in a couple days. Gotta run.”

Placing her cell on the arm of the couch, Sophie couldn’t help but wonder what it would take to get Zach to see that life hadn’t ended that night. Yes, mistakes were made, lives were altered. Why did he feel it was okay to hate the world, to push away those who only wanted to help him?

She had hoped the one silver lining to come from Chelsea’s death would be Zach waking up and seeing that life was fleeting and he still had people here who cared what happened to him.

Chelsea passed away four months ago, and the man was just as introverted and closed up as ever. How long could one person keep so much locked inside? Not to mention his past, before he ever came to live with the Monroes. Zach was a walking bundle of angst when he’d arrived in Haven, Georgia. Then life happened and added even more.

One of these days his emotions were going to explode. Sophie found herself wondering who would be there to catch him when he broke.

WEDDING DATE by KELLY EADON RELEASE BLITZ includes REVIEW

By: Kelly Eadon
Releasing April 5, 2016
Forever Yours

In Wedding Date by Kelly Eadon, all Kate Massie wants is to work her way into her dream job as a lawyer prosecuting child abuse cases, but with the economy not doing so well, the only job she's managed to get is working as a clerk for a judge. However, it seems her dating life might be taking a turn for the better when she runs into the young man that once took her to the junior prom, James Abell. Except he's totally changed from the shy boy he was into a handsome, confident man.

What a delightful, fast-paced, riveting read Ms. Eadon has written, encompassing the fake relationship trope, a heroine determined to achieve her dream, and a hero desperately in need of a date to his sister's wedding to get his mother off his back. I really liked how this story started with what happens to the heroine in the elevator amongst her work colleagues. What a ringtone her phone has.

As for the dialogue, the secondary characters certainly know how to put the hero and the heroine on the spot. They want this couple to be happy, especially Jame's friends and they think the heroine is perfect for him, would fit in with his family and win over his mother. Then there's the playful banter between James and Kate as well as the main characters and different members of the Abell family. The competitiveness of James and his brothers made me smile or laugh, because it seems to bring fun to Kate's life just as much as the men's.

I really liked both the main characters as much as the secondary ones. The Abell family could be a bit much at times for Kate, but I liked how she fit in with them. They treated her like family, which was surprising the way everyone talked about his overbearing mother. Kate is strong, brave, independent. But what I liked most about her was her willingness to help James because he needed her. Not just because of his mother, but because of his ex; a woman that doesn't know how to let go. His ex seems to use him all the time; to help decrease her stress since she's shy and doesn't like crowds. Yet, now that Kate has come into his life, he realizes he can't continue to help her.

While James, he's kind and caring. He's tired of his mother constantly annoying him about his love life. What business is it of hers. He can find his own woman. Just not his ex. That is finally over, and there's no going back to her. Knowing his ex needs to find a way to help herself, instead of using people to help with her condition. Luckily, his ex surprises him with her decision to get help.

Overall, this was a really good book where the couple's intense chemistry, which was there from the moment they came face-to-face again, for the first time in years, spilled over onto the pages in hot sex scenes. Kate is uncertain whether she's ready for a relationship, considering her stay in town is only supposed to be temporary. Yet, spending time with James has her falling hard for him. He's everything she'd want in a man if she was looking for a chance at happy ever after.

Ms. Eadon wrapped this story up nicely, despite the fact that they both reacted badly when James discovered the name of the heroine's ex-boyfriend. Apparently, her ex's father and James's dad are at odds due to business. However, the epilogue shows this couple are meant to be and that Kate is really good and happy at her new job. I would recommend Wedding Date by Kelly Eadon, if you enjoy the fake relationship trope, small town romances, or stories where a tight-knit family and the couple's friends want happiness for someone they care about, so they're determined to match-make.

Kate stared at herself in the mirror.
This is just pretend.
What was wrong with her? She’d spent all week fortifying her internal defenses. When he’d offered to bring her dinner or keep her company, she’d assured him Beth was taking good care of her. Now, with only a few words from Margaret, she’d let herself slip back into fantasy.
A fantasy where she could kiss James whenever she wanted. Where his strong arms held her at night.
A tremor passed through her.
No! She was stronger than this. She needed to convince his family and the other guests they were dating, not herself. She tore her eyes from the bathroom mirror and unzipped the garment bag that hung from the shower curtain rod.
She shimmied into the blue lace dress.
She had to admit, Ainsley had been right about it.
The fabric skimmed over her body and showed precisely the right amount of leg. Or it would, once she got it zipped. She twisted and turned and wiggled, but couldn’t reach the zipper.
Crap. She had to ask James for help.
She took a deep breath and knocked on the door leading back to the hotel room.
“I’m dressed.” His deep voice sent goose bumps over her skin.
She cracked the door and poked her head through. “I hate to ask you this, but I’m stuck. I need you to zip me up. Please.”
He kept his attention on the cufflink he was hooking through his button hole. “Sure.”
She only hesitated for a moment before she stepped from the bathroom and spun, to give him access to her back.
There was a zipping sound as his fingers skated over the fabric.
She exhaled sharply. There. It was over. She turned back to him. “Thank you. I’ll be ready in one minute. I have to find my necklace first.”
“You look amazing.” James' voice caught as he stared at her, his eyes a vivid, brilliant gray.
Kate couldn’t tear herself away from him. His gaze pierced her, suspending her in time and space.
He stepped toward her, curled his palm around the back of her neck and lowered his mouth to hers. A delicious tingle surged through her blood and down to her toes as their lips met. He snaked his other arm around her waist and pulled her against him as his tongue swept into her mouth.
She tilted her head back and gave herself over to him, reveling in the feel of his lips against hers. His kiss turned rougher, more urgent. Her knees went weak and her head swam as she clutched him.
Her tongue tangled with his, matching him stroke for stroke. All rational thought fled her mind and she was engulfed in a cloud of James: his smell, his taste, his touch.
He pulled back for a second and his eyes glinted as he traced his thumb over her cheek. Then he tightened his grip around her waist and took the fullness of her lower lip in his mouth. A tiny moan escaped her as he sucked gently. With every stroke of his tongue, her body melted further into his. His fingers dug into her back and she could feel his heart pound through his dress shirt.
A knock sounded on the door and she stepped back abruptly, breaking the kiss.
His eyes burned with an intensity that sucked all the air from her lungs. She shifted her gaze to the floor.
No one had ever kissed her like that.

MY PERFECT MISTAKE by KELLY SISKIND RELEASE BLITZ includes REVIEW

My Perfect Mistake
Over the Top #1
By: Kelly Siskind
Releasing April 5, 2016
Forever Yours
In My Perfect Mistake (Over the Top #1) by Kelly Siskind, to finally move on after her five-year relationship ended in her boyfriend cheating, Shay is determined to find the confident, independent woman she used to be before her ex turned her into the sort of woman she's turned into -- someone that depended on a man to take care of her. During a ski trip to Aspen, her friends convince her to do the bra throwing on the tree tradition as her first step to finding her wild side. Another step is to find a guy to jump into bed with, except the only guy she's interested in seems to be a man she manages to collide with on the slopes.

Ms. Siskind has written a fantastic first book for this new series of hers, which was very engaging and fast-paced due to the way this couple first met and the bra throwing incident that I couldn't help but laugh at. I really liked how this book started, and the way Shay and her friends ended up introducing themselves to the three men they meet in Aspen. Shay is bold in that moment, and the nicknames Shay and Kolton have for each other at the start match their attitudes perfectly.

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining from start to finish. Shay and Kolton certainly know how to push each other's buttons, as proven by the playful and intense dialogue that illustrates the strong chemistry this couple has, which spills over onto the pages in some hot sex scenes. Shay has had a tough time trying to regain her old self, and goes through a lot including possibly losing her job, her home and the independence she's striving to achieve.

I really liked both main characters as well as the secondary ones. Shay's friends are determined to support any decisions she makes, even if they think at times that perhaps the ones she's making may be wrong. Then again, Kolton's friends aren't that different. They want the hero to be happy again after having lost the woman he loved years ago, and they believe Shay is the woman for him.

Shay is strong, brave, and determined to find the independent woman she once was before her ex ruined her self-confidence. After everything she and Kolton did in Aspen, he's hard to forget once she returns home. Luckily though, he's determined to get her back into his life, even if he has to trick his way back into it, since he lied about what he really does for his living. However, when she learns the truth, she's not happy because he's dangling a job in her face that  could either make or break her career. Even worse, she has to find a way to keep her personal and professional life separate, which isn't easy. Especially when Kolton does everything in his power to woo her, to show her that they're good together and could have a future with each other, if both of them want it bad enough.

While Kolton is confident, hard-working and persistent. He's also a good dad, which is proven considering the kid has some quirks that other kids bully him about. The alphabet games they play, and the trips to the library as well as the reading of the Urban dictionary made me smile or laugh, especially the moment when the hero embarrassed Shay about fielding a question about the G-Spot.

Overall, this was a very good book, and I can't wait to read more of this series in the future. I want to read what is in store for Shay's friends and whether they'll get a happy ever after with Kolton's friends. I really liked the end, despite the fact that I thought Kolton made the wrong decision when he turned down Shay's proposal at first. But I could understand why he did, considering his long distance relationship with the only other woman that he's ever loved didn't turn out so well. However, the way he won her back was incredible. I was cheering the fact that Kolton chose to involve a cop acquaintance of one of his best friends. I would recommend My Perfect Mistake, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, or stubborn heroines determined to re-invent herself into the independent and confident woman she used to be.
OVERALL RATING:

BLURB:
What happens in Aspen is definitely not staying in Aspen . . .

A girls' trip to Aspen was exactly what Shay needed to forget about her toxic ex-boyfriend. She's got her girls, pristine slopes for skiing, and hot guys everywhere. Of course, her epic self-rediscovery goes completely to hell when a wild (and deliciously hot) skier knocks Shay on her ass . . . and war is declared.

Kolton doesn't know what it is about Shay that makes him lose it. Not just his cool---although she does have an unholy gift for that---but his restraint. When anger gives way to explosive chemistry, they're both shaken with the intensity of it. But somewhere between lust and hate, Kolton and Shay realize they could have something real . . . if they don't kill each other first.

He tosses me my anti-sexy helmet. “We should take another run before we head down.”
I catch it and shake my head, unsure I heard him right. “Sorry, we? Shouldn’t you be skiing with your buddies? It’s bad enough you hijacked my lunch and I have to sit at a table with you again tonight. Now you want to ski together? Thanks but no thanks.”
He lifts his arms over his head and stretches from side to side. A sliver of skin peeks out below his jacket. “The guys called it quits early. Worried you can’t keep up?”
As fucking if. The dude’s obviously egging me on, but he snaps my self-control. Everything between us is action, reaction. Spark and flame. What’s his deal, anyway? Why sit with me and ski with me when we’re worse than cats and dogs? If he thinks firing me up means he’s getting a replay of last night, he’s mistaken. Still, I need to beat his ass on the slopes. “Fine. I’ll take that run. It’s about time I put you in your place. But let’s be clear. We can have lunch and ski together, but there will be no sex.” A teen walking by stops midstride and doubles over in a fit of giggles.
“I didn’t catch that.” Kolton leans forward and cups a hand around his helmeted ear. “Do you mind speaking up?”
What a total douche.
“Everyone is wise until he speaks,” I mumble, recalling my granddad’s words.
Kolton straightens, a question passing across his face. “Are you Irish? My granddad used to say that all the time. Along with, ‘Shut your mouth and eat your dinner.’”
I laugh, abrupt and maniacal, the sharp sound catching me off guard. The energy shifts between us, like the first time I understood my Spanish teacher—the foreign becoming familiar. I frown, unsure I want Kolton to feel familiar. “Yeah, I am. The first curse I learned was feckin’ arse, and I’d kind of like to use it now.”
He smiles to himself, as though we’re friends who would sit and talk and laugh about our shared upbringing. Ruffled, I cram my helmet on, get geared up, and try to stomp out of the lodge all look out, buddy, but with the boots and Martian head, it’s a fail.
Skis on and goggles down, we race to the lift. He arrives first, making like he’s been waiting forever with a dramatic yawn. I roll my eyes and push past him. The lift line is empty, so it’s just him and me on the four-person chair.
“Mind not doing that?” he says partway up as I swing my skis.
The chair sways in response, and I rock my legs harder. “This?”
His olive skin grays. “Yeah. That.” He leans his elbows on the safety bar and closes his eyes.
If he pukes, I’ll likely toss my cookies, too. When my brother got food poisoning from China House’s all-you-can-eat buffet, it wasn’t pretty. I hadn’t eaten a thing there, but the second he threw up, I proceeded to reenact that pie eating scene from Stand by Me: projectile vomit, solid stream, fire hydrant force.
I still my skis and stop bouncing.
We pass one supporting tower, then another, before he opens his eyes.
“You regretting that lunch?” I ask, smirking.
He flexes his hands, and the poles dangling from his wrists knock around. “No. I’m regretting getting on this chair with you.”
Such a charmer.
