The Fernandez sisters have always had big dreams, and the talent and drive to pursue them. And in this sunny, spicy new series, each one will discover that success is that much sweeter when love follows . . .

Rosa Fernandez doesn't act on impulse--she's the responsible one, planning her career with precision, finally landing a job as the librarian at conservative Queen of Peace Academy, confining her strongest emotions to her secret poetry journal. But she's been harboring a secret crush on dreamy Jeremy Taylor, and after one dance with him at her sister's wedding, Rosa longs to let loose for the first time. She deserves some fun, after all. So what if she doesn't have a shot with Jeremy, not with his wealthy pedigree and high profile lifestyle. But one dance leads to one kiss, and soon Rosa is head-over-heels...

The adopted son of a prominent Chicago lawyer, Jeremy has a lot to live up to--especially with his birth father in prison--the perfect example of a bad example. With a big promotion and a move to Japan in the works, Jeremy is worlds away from settling down. But sweet, steady Rosa is a temptation he doesn't want to deny himself, at least for now. Yet when their simple fling turns complicated, everything they've both worked for is threatened--except the red-hot intimacy they've found together. Can forever really grow from just-for-now?

In Her Perfect Affair (Matched to Perfection #2) by Priscilla Oliveras, Rosa Fernandez has always been the sister that does the right thing ever since she lost her mom, but when she decides to have a night of fun with Jeremy Taylor, she never imagined she'd end up pregnant. Struggling to deal with the news, she can't help but shut Jeremy out. Luckily though, he's determined to prove he's not going anywhere. Will Jeremy be able to win Rosa's heart, or will she let the fact that they're too different with him being wealthy and having a high profile lifestyle keep them apart?

Having absolutely loved the first book of this series, I was really looking forward to reading this second story of Ms. Oliveras's Matched to Perfection series and I've got to say that this book was very engaging, fast-paced and had me loving the obstacles the main characters face on their journey to happy ever after including the roughness of Rosa's pregnancy, the heroine having to deal with Jeremy's witch of an ex and whether Rosa will give the hero a chance. Furthermore, the way this story started drew me into this story immediately, as Rosa only wants the best for her sisters and is determined to do anything she can to make Yazmine's big day run smoothly. However, it was from moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as there's instant chemistry between Jeremy and Rosa that can't be ignored, especially not when Rosa deserves to let loose for once in her life.

As for the dialogue, it was riveting, but had me frustrated with the heroine at times, as she runs hot and cold towards the hero. However, in saying that, I could understand why Rosa kept pushing the hero away because she wants love and not a marriage of convenience for the sake of the baby. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, stubborn, smart, kind, hard-working and I liked the close bond she shares with her sisters. I also liked how Rosa supported Jeremy with everything to do with his family, as he's always felt like an outsider that feels like he constantly needs to prove himself. While the hero, he's confident, hard-working and I liked how determined he is to win over Rosa and show her that he's not going anywhere. He really wants a relationship with her, which is proven by everything he does for her that shows how much he cares. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero were the decisions he makes that bring him closer with his family and also show the heroine that she's important to him. Will she finally realize how much Jeremy cares for her and that he doesn't want to just be with her for the sake of their baby?

Overall, Ms. Oliveras has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was wonderful and had me hoping the heroine would give the hero a chance; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to win the heroine over, as he wants forever with her. However, it was what the heroine does that was delightful and had me smiling, as it's palpable she loves the hero just as much as he loves her. I would recommend Her Perfect Affair by Priscilla Oliveras, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope, the surprise pregnancy trope, or books by authors Kate Clayborn, Allison Charles, Peggy Jaegar and Elizabeth Harmon.

Buen provecho,” the old man murmured.

She gave him a shy smile of thanks as she reached for the proffered champagne flute, then sidled away from the bar.

Jeremy fell into step alongside her and her heart rate blipped with glee.

“What did he say when he handed you your drink?” he asked. “Good something, right?”

She nodded, remembering Jeremy’s recent decision to start learning Spanish. “Literally it means, ‘enjoy your meal,’ but in this sense, it’s more like, ‘enjoy.’”

“Well then”—leaning closer to her, he clinked his flute against hers—“buen pro-pro—”

Provecho,” she finished, her belly flip-flopping at his chagrined smile.

They walked a few more steps before she worked up the courage to ask, “So, um, where’s your date?”

The tall blonde who’d been his plus-one was the epitome of old money and high class, a glaring reminder that Jeremy came from a wealthy, established Chicago family. Rosa, on the other hand, came from a small town on the Island, her parents having transplanted from Puerto Rico to the Humboldt Park area of Chicago when they were first married, then later to Oakton in the suburbs.

She and Jeremy, not to mention his date, weren’t quite the same pedigree.

“Cecile?”

“Uh-huh. Is she your . . . ?” Rosa let her voice trail off, wondering what his response might be.

“Family friend. I mean, we dated years ago, but decided we’re better as friends.”

Rosa breathed a soft sigh of relief.

“Anyway, she ditched me a while ago.” Jeremy brushed it off like his date leaving him behind didn’t bother him. “Her parents are hosting a charity event over on Michigan Avenue and she wanted to put in an appearance.”

“You didn’t want to go?”

“And miss this fun?” He jutted his chin out at the people dancing to a well-known merengue hit. Couples packed the floor, some more seasoned and coordinated than others, but all having a great time.

They reached an empty table and Jeremy pulled out a chair for her.

“I haven’t seen you out there,” he said. “How come?”

He sat down to join her, his muscular thigh inadvertently brushing against hers. Tingles of awareness danced a cha-cha down her leg.

“Um, well.” Hyper-attuned to his nearness, it took Rosa a second to find her words. “This is more Yazmine and Lilí’s scene. I guess I tend to be a much better party planner than a partygoer.”

“I wouldn’t necessarily say that.” Jeremy’s lips quirked as he slid her a teasing glance. “I seem to recall you play a mean game of charades.”

Rosa laughed, remembering Lilí’s birthday this past spring. It’d been their first family celebration since Papi’s death, so Lilí had kept it an intimate affair at home with the three sisters; Tomás; his six-year-old daughter, Maria; Jeremy; and a few other close friends.

She and Jeremy had wound up on the same charades team. That night, they’d been on a similar wavelength or something, quickly guessing each other’s clues before anyone else.

Lilí had cried foul play.

Yaz had dubbed them the dynamic duo.

Rosa had soaked up the shared moment, their uncanny connection. Later, she’d composed a few verses about it in her private poetry journal.

“By the way, Yaz mentioned how you stepped in to help so she wouldn’t stress as much today. Everything turned out great.” The pleasure in his bright smile, directed right at her, made Rosa’s pulse skip.

She ducked her head, embarrassed by his praise. “It wasn’t that much.”

“Right,” Jeremy answered, his tone dripping with disbelief.

She peeked at him from under her lashes. At some point in the evening, he’d shed his suit jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves, revealing his muscular forearms. As always, she was drawn by his ruffled dark blond hair and square jaw. But even more so by his friendly eyes and the easy camaraderie they shared.

He took a swig of his champagne, eyeing her over the rim.

What did he see when he looked at her?

Other Books in the Matched to Perfection series:

Ad executive Tomás Garcia shouldn't even be thinking about his daughter's alluring dance teacher, Yazmine Fernandez. Burned by a shattering divorce, he's laser-focused on his career and giving his young daughter, Maria, the secure home she deserves. Plus, he's certain that with her talent, Yaz will be leaving Chicago and heading back to Broadway as soon as she can. But Yaz's generous spirit and caring concern are sparking a desire Tomás can't resist and doesn't want to let go . . .

For Yaz, good-looking workaholics like Tomás simply can't be part of her life ever again. She owes it to herself to get back her confidence and fulfill the dreams her papa could not. She's glad to spend time with Maria and taste the family life she feels she can never have. And she's sure that she and Tomás can keep their attraction under control because there's so much at stake. But each unexpected intimacy, each self-revelation, makes the fire between them grow hotter with every step and every risk to their hearts . . .

In The Pursuit of Mrs. Pennyworth by Callie Hutton, Charlotte Pennyworth is being targeted by a stalker and with the police unwilling to do anything to help her, she turns to Private Investigator Elliot Baker. Luckily, someone is on her side, but the more she and Elliot get into the investigation, the more Charlotte finds herself unable to deny the intense chemistry that is between them. Will Elliot be able to win Charlotte over, or will what Charlotte is hiding from him come back to bite her and cost them their shot at happy ever after?

This is the second book I've read by Ms. Hutton and I've got to say that I really enjoyed this book from start to finish due to the obstacles these two face on their journey to happy ever after; whether the hero can accept the heroine's secret that reminds him of something that happened in his past; and whether the heroine will be able to give the hero a chance, especially since she's decided she'll never marry again. Will she change her mind? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that had me reading this book quickly, determined to discover whether the hero would take her case because it's palpable Charlotte is hiding something.

As for the dialogue, it was a delightful mixture of intense moments due to main characters back stories and the danger the hero and heroine face from Charlotte's stalker and playful banter that had me loving how the hero helps the heroine to deal with everything while doing his best to discover the identity of her stalker. Will the hero be able to keep the heroine safe? Will he discover the identity of the heroine's stalker before it's too late? Moreover, the heroine is very independent, resilient and I liked how she challenged the hero whenever he tried to dictate what she should and shouldn't do. No way was she going to follow anyone's orders without a very good reason. Yet, what I liked most of all is the bond she shares with the secondary characters in her house staff. They're very loyal to her, which is proven by their reaction to the hero at the critical moment in this story. Will they be able to forgive him and hopefully help him make things right with the heroine?

While the hero, he's been through tough times due to things that happened in his past and I liked how he's continued to use his skills as an investigator to help people. He's good at what he does and I liked how determined he was to help find the heroine's stalker, especially when in the beginning he was a tad reluctant to take her case. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his determination to win the heroine over, especially since she's the first woman that he's been fascinated by in a while. Will the hero's charm be enough to win Charlotte over?

Overall, Ms. Hutton has delivered a fantastic read in this book where the chemistry between this pair was heady and convincing; the romance was delightful, as the hero is determined to show the heroine how good things can be between them; and the ending had me worried for the main characters, especially with the danger they face and the moment where their relationship goes awry. Yet, in saying that, I liked how determined the hero was to make things right between him and the heroine, which isn't easy after what he does. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because of the surprise the heroine has for the hero that calls for a double celebration. I would recommend The Pursuit of Mrs. Pennyworth by Callie Hutton, if you enjoy Historical Romance that keeps a reader guessing as to who the stalker is or if you enjoy books by authors Jess Michaels, Suzanne Enoch, Christi Caldwell and Mary Balogh.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW: CAUGHT UP by RYA STONE

Caught Up
Roughneck #1
By Rya Stone
Releasing March 26th, 2018
Entangled Publishing

Steamy romance and contemporary suspense collide in this compelling debut novel from Rya Stone.

Cassie Mitchum is interested in one thing and one thing only—closing a deal on the Lucas property. Until she sets eyes on Jason “Jase” Lucas. He’s bad news, but he looks damn good doing it. She’s never been one for tattooed roughnecks, but she’s willing to make an exception, especially since he won’t look at her lease offer unless she agrees to a date with him.

Jason Lucas needs Cassie Mitchum to stay the hell off his land. There’s more happening than she needs to be aware of—or mixed up in. With that feisty attitude and those tight jeans…he can’t get her out of his head. Too bad being close to her would put her on the radar of the most dangerous person Jase has ever known.

In Caught Up (Roughneck #1) by Rya Stone, Cassie Mitchum is determined to get Jason 'Jase' Lucas's signature to seal the deal she's looking to close on the Lucas property. However, the moment she meets Jase, she knows closing the deal isn't going to be easy, especially with his reaction to her presence. Yet, the more time she spends with him, the harder they both find it not to give in, to get what they both want -- a date in exchange for his agreeing to the lease agreement. But when the danger Jase has been trying so hard to keep her from closes in, will Jase be able to keep her safe or will the pair lose their shot at happy ever after?

When I started reading this book I couldn't decide whether I was going to like it, but I'm glad I gave it a chance because I found it to be a really good read in the end, as the hero and heroine clash in the beginning because the hero is determined to protect her from the reasons he wants her to stay off his land and the heroine is determined to get her way by making her presence known and spelling out the terms she wishes for him to accept. Will he give her a chance to explain what she wants? Will the heroine give up on getting what she wants? Who will win the battle in the end?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and the danger that is closing in around the pair, as Jase is determined to finally right the wrongs of the past; wrongs that had to do with his family. Will the hero's brother fall in line? Furthermore, with the main characters, I liked how the heroine challenged the hero. She's feisty, resilient and I liked how determined she was to secure the hero's signature, even if it means agreeing to his terms. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is that she would do anything for family, which is proven by her reasons for needing to secure Jason's signature. While the hero, he's confident, driven, and I liked how persistent he was in his pursuit of the heroine, especially once he realized there was no way he could stay away with her. I also liked the decisions the hero made when it came to righting the wrongs of the past because no way can he continue to look over his shoulder, especially because of the way he lost his father. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was how protective he was of the heroine and the lengths he goes to in order to keep her safe, even if it means making someone very annoyed with him; someone who would love to get revenge no matter who they hurt to get to Jase.

Overall, Ms. Stone has delivered a really good read in her debut book where the chemistry between this couple was strong and spills over onto the pages in very hot sex scenes that had me loving the hero's need for the heroine; and the ending had me worried for the main characters because of the danger, but had me loving the hero's determination to make things right with the heroine, especially after what he does that causes their relationship to go awry. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as the hero has the best surprise for heroine. I would recommend Caught Up by Rya Stone, if you enjoy contemporary romance with a good dash of suspense, especially suspense that keeps you guessing as to how many people are causing trouble for the hero; or if you enjoy books by authors Claudia Shelton, Jenna Ryan, Tessa Bailey and Sidney Halston.

The door slammed open, and as Jason Lucas filled the doorway, Cassie had the sickening thought he’d been listening from outside, ear to the door. His mouth didn’t say a word, but his eyes said plenty as they took her in, completely ignoring the other woman in the room. Cassie had never been so aware of a gravy stain and fought the urge to adjust her shirt or posture or…something.

“You’re the landman,” he said slowly, his voice thicker than she remembered.

“In the flesh,” she said, extending her hand, along with all the confidence she could muster.

Her arm languished, suspended, and she finally dropped it when she realized Jackson’s was covered in grease or drilling mud or something else a dozen dry cleanings couldn’t remove.

“Still don’t look like a man to me.”

Karen clucked her tongue, but Cassie managed to hold hers. The man worked the rigs. He knew ‘landman’ was the industry term, and she didn’t feel the need to explain or tell him she’d considered using ‘land agent’ for a while but abandoned the idea because it sounded like she was pillaging the plains a hundred and fifty years ago, selling stolen Sioux lands to settlers. Wait. Was he…flirting?

Not likely. Not after the shut-out yesterday.

But the thought threw her off guard. Jackson Lucas took a step in her direction, and she struggled to don her game face. And it was a hell of a game. She was aware of every move she made in front of him, even while she told herself it didn’t matter what she felt when he looked at her. He was just another landowner, and she would conduct herself accordingly.

When he spoke again, she realized the husk in his voice was exhaustion. “Your title happens to be the epitome of inaccuracy.”

And, wow. Not your typical blue-collar response. “Roughneck is pretty inaccurate too,” she said. “From what I can see, your neck looks…” Like I want to lick it?

              Really, Cass?

Yes. And she seriously wasn’t sure she could deal with this man, not this way.

“My neck looks what?” he demanded in the same tone he’d used with the men outside.

“Not rough?” She laughed, faking a confidence that had apparently gone weak in the knees, the traitorous bitch. And now it was awkward stare-off time. Karen’s amused presence wasn’t helping matters. Cassie hadn’t felt this intimidated in years. Maybe she was back in junior high, suddenly unable to form a sentence around a hot guy. Well, if he was going to study every inch of her, she’d reciprocate, no words needed.

She’d never been a fan of long-haired, tatted-up guys, but this one pulled off the half-ponytail without a hitch, and the ink was more like art. Tree limbs wrapped around his left shoulder, and it looked like…yeah, there was a bird…some animal, both hidden in the twisted branches. Fish and crabs and things with teeth covered his opposite arm. Dark and beautiful, the swirling images looked sexy-as-sin against his sweat-slicked skin. His sky-blue freaking eyes and stubble-covered jaw were too much to take in directly, and after another detailed study of his arms and chest, Cassie cleared her throat.

The man before her swiped a forearm across his grimy brow before glancing out the open door and up at the rig. “So you found me. Now what?”

When Rya Stone isn’t plotting away on her keyboard, she stays busy chasing children, cows, and a chicken named Dracula. Born and raised in a ranching family on the Texas Gulf Coast, Rya spent a decade in the oil patch before fleeing deep into the woods with her high school sweetheart and a mind full of inspiration for her Roughneck Romance series. Rya loves to cook but hates raw onions. Her favorite food is…well, everything. And, despite her upbringing, prefers Doc Martens over cowboy boots.
