Bayside's Most Unexpected Bride
Saved by the Blog #3
By Kerri Carpenter
Releasing January 1st, 2017
Harlequin

In Bayside's Most Unexpected Bride (Saved by the Blog #3) by Kerri Carpenter, as editor in chief of the local paper, the Bayside Bugle, Sawyer Wallace will do anything to save it from financial trouble. However, when he's given an ultimatum of giving up the identity of the Bayside Blogger in exchange for financial help, Sawyer knows he can't hurt his oldest friend, not even to save something he loves. Will he be able to save the local paper and get the girl, or will Sawyer lose the one woman he's meant to be with?

The first two books of this series are wonderful reads, and this story was just as captivating due to the main characters and their interesting back stories; the compelling dialogue that had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether the Bayside Blogger's identity would be revealed; and the ending had me hoping for the best for this couple as they're meant to be together. The way this story started had me liking the heroine immediately, as her antics have Sawyer a tad annoyed with her. However, it was from the moment that the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that made this story a fast-paced read for me, as Sawyer and Riley have such strong chemistry that only got stronger throughout the more the heroine resisted their attraction.

Both the main characters were fantastic and the dialogue was well-written and drew me into this story the moment I started reading, especially because of the news the Bayside Blogger is reporting that had me smiling. Since the blogger certainly loves to push people's buttons, most especially Sawyer's. Moreover, the heroine has been through so much and it's understandable why she's determined to resist the hero after what happened with the last man she was with. I also liked how resilient and courageous Riley is when it comes to everything she goes through in this book including what happens between her and her two best friends and then what happens between her and Sawyer that could cause their relationship to fold if neither of them realize the depth of their feelings.

While the hero, he has a tough decision to make and I liked that he relied on the secondary characters to be there for him to offer their advice and support, especially his family. I also liked how determined Sawyer was to win over the heroine and that he managed to get her to open up to him about why she couldn't get involved with him. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was that he would do anything to protect those he loves, even if it might mean sacrificing everything he's worked so hard for. Will he give up on the paper for love, or will he find a way to save his relationship with Riley as well as keep his family legacy alive?

Overall, Ms. Carpenter has delivered an entertaining, fast-paced read in this book where the ending had me so happy for this couple, as Sawyer and Riley are meant to be together. Certainly, they shouldn't let anything stand in the way of their happiness, especially not the future of the paper and what it might mean if the identity of the Bayside Blogger is revealed. Will the Bayside Blogger's identity be exposed? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Riley and Sawyer are so happy together. I would recommend Bayside's Most Unexpected Bride by Kerri Carpenter, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Michelle Major, Rochelle Alers, Jules Bennett and Rachel Lee.

Always a Blogger. Never a Bride?

Word on the street is that Sawyer Wallace, editor in chief of our favorite--but financially strapped--local paper, has been offered a hot deal to save the Bayside Bugle! All he's got to do is reveal the identity of the Bayside Blogger. Even if doing so means losing Riley Hudson, his oldest friend. And, maybe, the woman making him rethink his singleton status!

Riley's just as crazy about her best bud and boss--which is why she's always kept him at a distance. Plus, only Sawyer knows her real identity. Talk about compromising positions... Would revealing the truth destroy their chance at leaving the friendzone? Or perhaps there will be wedding bells for this couple, who truly are meant for each other!

“Hey, boss. What’s up?”

He steepled his hands on his desk and peered at her with his dreamy hazel eyes. Damn. Dreamy? She meant irritating. Beady even.

The weather was unseasonably cold already and he was sporting a pair of corduroy pants and a somewhat ugly argyle sweater that she knew had been a Christmas gift from his mother last year. Not the most stylish of outfits and yet somehow he looked like he’d walked out of the pages of an L.L.Bean catalog. Just because he was tall with broad shoulders and had really cute sandy-brown hair that flopped on his head because he needed a haircut. And today he was wearing his glasses. What was it about a large lumberjack-looking man who wore glasses? Why did that make her stomach twist up into knots? And then there was his lopsided smile…

What in the heck was she doing? This was Sawyer Wallace, lifelong friend and, more importantly, boss. She couldn’t size him up like a piece of meat. Especially because they worked together. Especially because of what had happened to her in New York.

“Riley,” he began.

“Sawyer,” she countered, and bit her lip in anticipation.

He reached into his top desk drawer and pulled out a colorful silk scarf. “Before I forget, Tony found this at The Brewside. Said you left it there a couple of weeks ago and he kept forgetting to give it to you.”

She reached for the bright yellow scarf with lime-green polka dots. One of her favorites. “Thanks,” she mumbled. “Tony must have given this to you while you were on your date.” She used air quotes for the word date and wiggled her eyebrows.

Sawyer exhaled a long breath.

“What?” she asked, feigning innocence.

“‘Bayside’s forever bachelor’?” he quoted. “Really?” She shrugged. “I thought I told you to keep me out of the Bayside Blogger’s column.”

Saved by the blog!

This just in, fair readers! Chic and stunning, that gorgeous new woman about town is none other than our very own little Ellie--now Elle--Owens. She's a far cry from the frumpy, bookish student we used to know, but then, living in Italy will do that to a girl! Still, this blogger can't forget the infamous video that caused her to leave!

Apparently Miss Elle has been spotted with yummy contractor Cam Dumont...but we thought her heart belonged to his little brother. Are Cam and Elle a new couple? They were seen cooling their passions in the bay...in April! If this is love, let's hope she's swimming with the right brother. The Bayside Blogger will keep you posted.

Another roll of the dice
Big news, fair readers! Bayside High's favorite It Girl is back. Would you have bet Clarissa Blackwell would ever return? Ten years ago, she crushed Jasper Dumont's heart under her Jimmy Choos and left town for a bigger, better life. Her return raises one question: What is she running from (or is it to) now?

Perhaps Jasper knows? One look at Carissa and he fell in the bay! (Rich, single and devastatingly handsome, Jasper's our catch of the day.) That icy plunge should have brought him to his senses, yet "Casper" has been spotted together all over town. Does this mean Bayside's legendary couple may reunite? The stakes are high, but the Bayside Blogger's money is riding on love!

RELEASE DAY BLITZ - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: THE THING ABOUT LOVE by KIM KARR

The Thing About Love
By Kim Karr
Releasing January 3rd, 2018
Self-Published

In The Thing About Love by Kim Karr, when Juliette 'Jules' Easton is hired to plan a wedding in just five weeks, she doesn't expect the bride to make her team up with the woman's brother. Yet, seeing as she's stuck with him, Jules is determined to make the most of the situation. However, she never imagined she'd fall for the arrogant and cocky doctor. Will Jules be able to convince Jake Kissinger that they deserve a shot at happy ever after, or are his plans for his future too important for him to stick around and find happiness with Jules?

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Karr, and what a book it was. Really, it was incredibly well-crafted, compelling and a wonderful combination of intense moments and playful banter that made this story an absolute page turner right from the beginning to the end. The way this story started had me hoping for the best for the heroine, because she needs things to go her way due to what's happening with the family business. Will she be able to turn things around? Will she be able to handle planning a wedding with Jake? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine met where this story got very interesting, as the heroine doesn't make the best first impression when she meets Jake. Will he give her another chance to prove herself, especially after her case of mistaken identity?

As for the main characters, both are relatable, incredibly likeable and I loved every moment they conversed, especially in the beginning because there's a bit of discord between them because of what happened when they first meet. Moreover, the heroine is resilient when it comes to her job and being able to go on after the loss she suffered in her past.  I also liked how determined she was to create the perfect day for the bride, because if she doesn't, she could lose everything important to her; and I also enjoyed the challenge she and Jake provided each other, as it creates wonderful sexual tension between them that eventually spills over onto the pages in fan-your-face sex scenes that spice up the story. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was that she would do anything for those she loves, which is proven by what she does for one of her family members.

While the hero, he's been through so much in his life and the guilt he's felt over what happened to his father has him determined to follow in the man's footsteps. Will Jake be happy with the choice he makes? Moreover, the hero is also confident, cocky and I loved how he would do anything for family, because his gran and sister are important to him. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is that he opened up to the heroine about his past and how readers learn how connected their past is because they both lost people to one of the most terrible tragedies.

Overall, Ms. Karr has delivered a must read in this book where the ending left me completely satisfied, as the hero realizes he can't live without Jules in his life. I also liked how the ending of this story helps the pair to heal from the hurts of their pasts because of what the hero discovers. I would recommend The Thing About Love by Kim Karr, if you enjoy the enemy to lovers trope or books by authors Vi Keeland, Penelope Ward, Lauren Blakely and Meghan March.

Blurb

The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn’t my cup of tea.
I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body. 9 - 5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.)

Tall, dark, and handsome doesn’t change the fact that he’s arrogant, cocky, and rude. Not that I care, but he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no.

Turns out no isn’t an option.

I have a quickie wedding to plan, and Dr. Jake Kissinger doesn’t have a choice. He looks at our situation like he’s stuck with me, but in reality, I’m stuck with him. Stuck with his pouty mouth. His long, lean body. And stuck with those loose, low riding scrub pants. (Okay, so the doctor thing is growing on me.)

When spending time together turns into more than it should, I know I’m in trouble.

He isn’t supposed to make my heart pound.

I’m not supposed to make him look twice.

And we aren’t supposed to spend the night together. (Okay, so he has more than one artistic vein in his body, and other places.)

Falling for him is definitely a mistake.

Here’s the thing…

Jake is unavailable, and I know it.
Just not in the way you might think.

I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GI VEAWAY: NIKAN REBUILT by SCARLETT COLE

Does the past ever really stay in the past? Find out in Scarlett Cole’s NIKAN REBUILT, the steamy, third standalone in her rockstar romance series, Preload. After years of no contact, Nik and first love Jenny’s connection still blazes between them. Will they have their second chance at love? Or will the weight of their past crush their future together?

Nikan Rebuilt
Preload #3
By Scarlett Cole
Releasing January 2nd, 2018
Swerve

In Nkan Rebuilt (Preload #3) by Scarlett Cole, years ago Nikan made a terrible mistake that cost him the woman he loved. But now, she's back in his life and he will do anything to prove that he isn't the same man that hurt her. Will Nikan be able to convince Jenny to give him a second chance, or will he lose the woman he's always loved again?

If you've never read a story from Ms. Cole's Preload series, I strongly suggest you get to reading about the fabulous men that make up the wonderful rock group, as their men that have had tough pasts and finding their Ms. Right is just what they need to heal from the hurts of their pasts. Will Nikan get his second chance at happy ever after with Jenny? Will Nikan's betrayal be too hard for Jenny to ever be able to trust him again? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story got very intriguing, as Jenny has already survived so much, but facing Nikan is hard especially when she still has feelings for him, yet can't seem to get over what he did.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially that of the heroine, because she grew up in a cult with a manipulative father that did terrible things and it's made it hard for her to trust people. Moreover, the main characters were fantastic and I loved how determined the hero was to win the heroine back. Really, he's confident, persistent and I loved everything he does to show Jenny that she's the only one for him. I also liked the decisions he made, because he can't keep going on like he's going in pretending that everything is all right when it comes to the band and how everyone relies on him.

While the heroine, she's a survivor and seeing Nikan again is just another thing she has to deal with to be able to keep moving forward with her life. Furthermore, she's strong and brave with everything she deals with throughout this book, especially when it comes to handling the problems that arise at the place where she works. I also liked that the heroine gave Nikan a second chance and that she finally made peace with her past as best she could. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her kind and caring nature and how good she is for the children she cares for.

Overall, Ms. Cole has delivered another fantastic and nicely-crafted read for this series where the chemistry between this couple was powerful; the romance was red hot and showed how much Nikan still loves Jenny; and the ending had me worried for one of the main characters, but had me liking how things worked out for this couple, as Nikan and Jenny need each other. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Nikan does something really special for the heroine. I would recommend Nikan Rebuilt by Scarlett Cole, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Lexxie Couper, Avery Flynn,  and Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott.

Does the past ever really stay in the past?

Nikan can never be complete. He's got a rock group made up of the family he built for himself, more money than he knows what to do with, and a stream of groupies falling over themselves to date him. But none of them are her. The one regret that still plagues him, still taunts him with what he could have had.

Jenny is a survivor. Now running a group home after overcoming life in a cult lead by her manipulative father and watching her mother drink the poison he fed his followers, she fights to keep the light in the eyes of every boy who walks through her doors. Far from simple young love, Nik taught her to trust, showed her how good life could be. Before he formed the band. Before he became a famous rockstar. Before he destroyed it all.

A chance meeting after years of no contact shows the connection still blazes between them. But will they have their second chance at love? Or will the weight of their past crush their future together?

Nik took the towels out of her hands and placed them on the dryer. “Hey, come here,” he said as he reached for her hands. “Talk to me.”
She wasn’t ready to, not least because she didn’t understand the swirl of feelings sweeping through her. To put into words for Nik exactly how that felt was impossible. “I’m fine, I’m good. I just have a lot to do here now.”

Nik placed his finger under her chin and raised her eyes so she was forced to look at him. “I think we can safely say that lies have no place between us. So, I’ll tell you what I’m thinking, and then you can tell me what you’re thinking. Okay?”

Jenny sighed and nodded. “Okay.”

“I didn’t come here tonight expecting to kiss you like this. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it, but I know I have a lot of work to do to prove myself to you. But seeing you laugh, and seeing you look at me, just for a moment, without the pain I caused you in your eyes . . . Well, I don’t even know how to begin to explain what that felt like to me—except that I didn’t want to be away from you for another moment, and that it felt like a new beginning of sorts. If there’s any doubt in your mind about what that kiss did to me, I’d encourage you to touch me and check, but I think that might be a step too far, given where we are. Now it’s your turn.”

His words made her stomach flip, and despite her best efforts she was filled with a warm and fuzzy feeling. She looked over to the staircase again to check that nobody was within earshot. “We’re coming at this new friendship . . . relationship . . . from two completely different places. I’m mad at myself for letting you get this close to me again. It’s reckless to fall for you all over again and I know it. But when you stand so close to me, I can . . .” Crap. How could she explain that the way the smell of him, and the heat of him, and the proximity of him, and the touch of him took her straight back to that time and place where she wholeheartedly loved him?

“You can what?” Nik asked, moving his hands to her hips.

“I can remember us. Before.”

Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada were I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.
