About the Book:

After her carefully ordered world imploded, Paige Taylor cracks up. On her tenth self-help book, it seemed like a good idea at the time to reinvent herself––move from Manhattan to the tiny beachside town of St. Clair––and take over the local bookstore.

But instead of discovering her spiritual Nirvana, she’s neck-deep in a floundering business, the locals treat her like a plague victim, and her mom’s suddenly decided to visit––with no end in sight––and keeps coming home with one surprise after the next.

Added to that pot of crazy, the one guy who sets her pulse racing has sworn off women forever. He’s got a Samsonite filled with baggage, but damn he looks good hauling it down the street. And giving her those sexy half-smiles. And tempting her to take him for a test ride.

Soon Paige discovers that reinventing herself takes more than just a change of address and a pithy quote on Instagram. She needs to face the truth about her life, and that’s something she can’t do alone.

Julie Particka was told to get serious about her future in Junior High. Several years after getting a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, she realized being serious was over-rated and went back to her first love–writing. Now rather than spending her days in the drudgery of the lab or teaching science to high school students, she disappears into worlds of her own creation where monsters sometimes roam, but true love still conquers all. She can most often be located in the Detroit area with her favorite minions (the ones who know her as Mom) where she is currently hatching a plot for world domination. It involves cookies for everyone, so she’s pretty sure there’s no way it can fail…except the minions keep eating the cookies.

About the Book:

Art professor Anita Delgado spends eleven months of the year working. July is her month to cut loose, paint, and pick a guy to make the summer memorable. But this year she isn’t in a tropical location with an exotic man like she'd planned. She’s stuck in small-town USA dealing with a lake house she doesn’t want, inherited from a grandmother she never knew. A summer fling might be the only thing to get her through the next few weeks.

Salvage specialist Noah Colburn is running for mayor. If he doesn’t, an absolute idiot is going to ruin his beloved town. So he’s stepping up. It’s what he does—with his teenage daughters, with the family business, and now with Lakeside. But when the newest resident of the town asks him to renovate her grandmother’s house—and have a four-week fling —he’s tempted. Tempted to step out of the mold and take just one thing for himself. But the gossip mill in the town is notorious.

Anita’s learning it’s hard to have a fling when the town follows your every move, and it’s even harder when the July guy makes it clear one month is never going to be enough…

In Tragic (Lark Cove #3) by Devney Perry, after her divorce was finalised, Piper Campbell decided she needed a change. Moving to Lark Cove is the perfect solution, but she never expected to fall for another man. Still, when she discovers she's pregnant, will she be able to convince Kaine to give a relationship between them a chance or is Kaine's past too painful for him to move forward from to be able to give happy ever after a chance?

What an emotionally-charged, fast-paced, enthralling read Ms. Perry has delivered in this third book of her Lark Cove series where the main characters are well-developed, relatable and likeable; the dialogue was compelling and had me loving this couple's growing relationship, as they try to keep things casual; and the obstacles these two face are tough, but had me smiling as they manage to overcome each one, especially the one that is holding the hero back. Will he be able to forgive those he felt betrayed him?

With the main characters, the heroine was resilient, courageous and I liked how she handled everything she goes through from dealing with her ex to helping the hero when he goes through one of the hardest moments of his life. Will she be able to help Kaine heal from his past? While the hero, he's been through so much and it's understandable why he's so angry at the people that betrayed him. Why couldn't they see things from his point-of-view? Why were sides taken? Furthermore, I loved how the hero handles everything he goes through in this story from dealing with his grief to opening up to the heroine (which isn't easy) to dealing with his family.

Overall, Ms. Perry has delivered an utterly superb read in this book where the chemistry between Kaine and Piper was powerful; the romance was hot and full of exquisite heat and passion; and the ending had me loving that Piper was willing to fight for Kaine and help him to heal from his past because it's the only way they can be together. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because of Piper's surprise. I would recommend Tragic by Devney Perry, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the surprise pregnancy trope or books by authors Kelly Elliott, Adriana Locke, Corinne Michaels and Vi Keeland.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: THE CHRISTMAS LAYOVER by ROBERT TATE MILLER

The weather forecasters said the snowstorm would miss the eastern seaboard. They were wrong.

When Ally Henderson’s flight from Southern California to finally marry her fiancé in New York City on Christmas gets diverted to the tiny Midwestern town of Bethlehem, she’s desperate to get back in the air and to the Big Apple. But with all the airports closed, she’s forced to rely on Midwestern hospitality to wait out the storm.

Living with a welcoming stranger is one way to spend a snowed-in Christmas, but when she meets the local diner owner, the kindhearted and surprisingly sexy Jake, sparks fly. Only, Ally’s a big-city girl with big-city dreams, and Jake will always be a Bethlehem boy.

In The Christmas Layover by Robert Tate Miller, when Ally Henderson finds herself in the small town of Bethlehem after her flight to New York is diverted due to bad weather, she's determined to make the most of it. However, it's not that easy, especially when she's so far away from her real life and then her fiancée turns her life upside down. Will Jake be able to help Ally forget her problems or will they lose their shot at happy ever after because Ally is a city girl while Jake will always be a small town guy?

What a sweet, fast-paced, delightful read this author has delivered in this book, which packed quite the emotional punch due to the hero's back story, but had me loving the playful banter between the hero and heroine as well as the growing friendship between the heroine and one of the secondary characters. Really, the growing friendship was cute, as Noel is such an interesting secondary character. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really gets interesting, as they don't get off to the best of starts. How could the hero say what he does when it comes to her career?

With the main characters, the heroine goes through quite a lot and I could understand why she isn't ready to give up on her dreams, especially when she's hit rock bottom in terms of what she loses because of her ex and whether she'll be able to get it back. Yet, in saying that, she's resilient, courageous, loves to give advice and I liked how determined she was to see the best in the situation she's found herself in. Since she isn't used to be being part of a small town that shows secrets don't stay hidden. While the hero, he's had it tough since the death of his fiancée and I couldn't help but sympathize with him. He's also confident, a little cocky when it comes to the competition he faces, has a good relationship with his family and I liked how determined he was to show the heroine that all hope isn't lost, especially with what she discovers about her fiancée and his deceiving ways. How could the guy be so selfish?

Overall, Mr. Miller has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was on the sweet side and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to win Ally's heart. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Ally and Jake have come so far in their relationship and have so much more happiness to look forward to. I would recommend The Christmas Layover by Robert Tate Miller, if you enjoy small town romances, the opposites attract trope or books by authors LE Rico, Victoria James, Sonya Weiss and Jennifer Hoopes.

Falling in love can come with the most unexpected risks in this First Wives novel from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

In Chasing Shadows (First Wives #3) by Catherine Bybee, Avery Grant barely survived a brutal attack, but it's made her stronger. She's determined never to be caught off guard again. Yet, there's something about Liam that makes her think about tossing her no dating rule aside and giving a man a chance. Except when Avery's past has her looking for answers, will she push away the person she's coming to love or will she let him in completely to achieve her happy ever after?

I have had this book on my kindle for the past three months and have been putting off reading it because I couldn't warm up to Avery in the first two books of Ms. Bybee's First Wives series. Since I thought she was too opinionated and interfering when it came to her friends love lives and too much of a socialite that loves attention and to spend money. Really, she just annoyed me until something terrible happened to her in the second book of the series that left me shocked. Still, I've been hesitant to read this book, but I'm glad I finally did, as it was highly entertaining, fast-paced and has exceptional emotional depth that shows how much of a warrior Avery is.

The way this story started drew me into the story immediately, as Avery is determined never to be a victim again. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as Liam is an absolutely delightful hero who is relatable, likeable, sensible and so straight-forward. A man who doesn't hold anything back and goes after what he wants and what he wants is Avery. Really, his pursuit of her was genius, even if it does come off a little stalkerish -- at first -- to some of the secondary characters.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially the heroine as she's been through a lot in her life and it's understandable why she needed to break away from her parents. Her mother is totally pretentious and has some very outdated views of women. Luckily, Avery has discovered what she wants out of life and has gone for it when it comes to a career. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how driven she is when it comes to her career, even if she does get a little sidetracked because of personal issues that have her wanting answers. I also liked how she stood up to her friends when it comes to her life being hers and she can do what she wants. Yes, they are her friends, but she doesn't need them to save her. That is something she can now do herself. Really, her courage shines throughout this story with all she's done and does to be able to keep herself safe.

Overall, Ms Bybee has delivered an absolutely incredible read in this book where the chemistry between Avery and Liam was off-the-charts and tangible from the moment they meet; the romance was hot and shows how right these two are for each other; and the ending left me completely satisfied because of what Avery undercovers and how it helps her to heal completely from what she went through. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as Liam and Avery are absolutely adorable together. I would recommend Chasing Shadows by Catherine Bybee, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Marina Adair, Jill Shalvis, Jennifer Probst and Erin Nicholas.

By Marie Johnston

Deputy Farah James arrests bad boys, she doesn’t date them. So when an ex-con with a fiery past returns to town, she ignores the criminal things he does to her pulse. Behind bars, Jesse Rodriguez and his wicked looks were easy to dismiss, but as a free man with a life to reclaim, he’s never been more dangerous to her—or her job and the ranch that depends on her paycheck.

When stopping to help a stranded motorist puts Jesse on the radar of the local deputy, for once, he doesn’t complain. After all, Farah’s just as cute as he remembers. Too bad she’s also an icy professional who doubts he’s a changed man. He’s willing to give her up as a lost cause and make his way out of town…until an accident strands him at the ranch next door.

Crossing paths on duty is one thing, but seeing how good Jesse is with his hands threatens everything she’s ever worked for. But Farah’s not the only one taking a risk, and he won’t torch his future again, even if it means leaving her in his rearview mirror for good.

In Rancher in Training (Part-Time Cowboys #1) by Marie Johnston, Jesse Rodriguez is doing his best to move on from his past, but it isn't as easy as he thought. Especially when people still see him as a criminal, even though he was released from jail a few years ago. However, he catches a break when someone offers him a place to stay and a job. Still, he's living next door to a cop who also happens to be part of his past. Will Farah be willing to risk her career to be with Jesse or will they end up breaking each other's hearts?

This story was such an interesting, fast-paced, wonderful read that had me hooked from the very beginning because the hero is doing his best to move on from his past and it's good that someone is willing to give him a chance. It's something he needs in order to make sure he stays out of trouble because he doesn't want anything to hurt his chances of rebuilding his life and making sure he stays on the straight and narrow. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as it's hard not to like Farah, even though it seems Farah isn't going to make things easy for Jesse. He's served his time. Doesn't he deserve a second chance? Yet, I liked how when these two first met that it shows how strong their chemistry is.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through that left me wondering whether they'd get their happy ever after, especially once certain things happen that made me think the heroine worried too much about her reputation and not her chance at happiness. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous, hard-working and I liked how the decisions she makes throughout this story show the hero there's a way they can make a relationship between them work. While the hero, he really surprised me because he's so determined to make sure that what happened in the past never happens again. I also liked how determined he was to prove that he's changed, especially when things begin to happen that make him look like the guilty party. Will he be able to prove he's changed to those that think he's still a criminal? Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his determination to fight for his relationship with the heroine. No way will he be her dirty little secret.

Overall, Ms. Johnston has delivered a really good read where the chemistry between this couple was tangible and from the moment they come face-to-face; the romance was wonderful and had me loving that the heroine took a chance on the hero because he's changed; and the ending left me completely satisfied because of what the heroine does to show the hero how much she wants him in her life. I would recommend Rancher in Training by Marie Johnston, if you enjoy the enemy to lovers trope, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Vivian Arend, Sophie Jordan, Elle James and Lorelei James.
