In Cover of Night (Alpha Crew #3) by Laura Griffin, Karly Bonham came to Thailand to interview a United States Ambassador, but when a group of terrorists storm in where she's staying, Karly needs to do everything she can to stay alive and find help. Luckily, Navy Seal Ethan Dunn comes to her rescue and soon she finds herself helping his SEAL team to take down the enemy. However, when it's all over, Ethan is determined to see Karly again. Yet, with one terrorist still on the loose, will Ethan be able to protect Karly safe from an imminent threat or will he lose the woman he's falling hard for?

What an exciting and gripping tale Ms. Griffin has penned in this story, which starts off with a bang and just keeps getting better, as Karly is determined to do whatever it takes to help Ethan and his SEAL team, even if it means going head-to-head and using her skills as a reporter with the hero to get what she wants because she's determined. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time in this story that drew me in completely.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and the investigation into the terrorist plot that could put the heroine in danger. Will Ethan be able to keep Karly safe? Moreover, the heroine is resilient; persistent when it comes to getting what she wants, which makes her so good at her job; and I liked how determined she was to help Ethan's SEAL team, so they were able to take down the terrorists without any more loss of lives than there had already been. While the hero, he's confident and I liked how determined he was to keep the heroine safe. I also liked how persistent the hero was to win the heroine over, even though he believes his career as a Navy SEAL isn't very conducive to having a successful relationship.

Overall, Ms. Griffin has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance wonderful because Ethan shows Karly how much she means to him; and the ending had me on the edge-of-my-seat due to the danger the main characters. Will Ethan be able to keep Karly safe? However, it was how things turned out between Ethan and Karly that left me smiling, as Karly deserves to be happy after everything she's been through and it's palpable that Ethan makes her happy. I would recommend Cover of Night by Laura Griffin, if you enjoy romantic suspense; the sexy protector trope; or books by authors Susan Stoker, Cat Johnson, Kaylea Cross and Misty Evans.

  1. This series is nowhere near as good as Ms. Griffin's Tracers series.
