The Right Stud
By Ilsa Madden-Mills & Tia Louise
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: June 4, 2018

Blurb

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and USA Today bestselling author Tia Louise are back with an all-new romantic comedy filled with Southern sass and steamy scenes that will have you laughing out loud and fanning yourself. Pour the sweet tea and get ready…

“The best way to get over your sh**ty ex-fiancé is to get under a shiny new stud…”

As soon as Mr. Tall, Blond, and Handsome walks into that bar, I know he’s the hook-up I need to get over stupid Cheater Kyle.

A few stolen kisses in a dark hallway, and I’m pretty sure we’re headed for a home run—until he disappears without a trace.

Whatever. Men are all snakes in the grass, and I don’t need a new one anyway.

I resolve to forget about his perfect lips (and chest of steel) and instead focus on turning my Granny’s old beach house into a profitable B&B.

What I don’t expect is for him to show up the next day in my kitchen!

You see, my sexy mystery man is none other than Jax Roland, the drop-dead gorgeous home improvement star of The Right Stud, and he’s got an offer I can’t refuse.

With a suitcase in one hand and a hammer in the other, he wants to move in and renovate my old house while he films his new show.

But my roommate has secrets, and they threaten to rip our blossoming friendship—and possible love—apart.

When push comes to shove, is Jax really The Right Stud or is he just another nail in the coffin of love?

In The Right Stud by Ilsa Madden-Mills & Tia Louise, Ashton is over men, especially after discovering her fiancé was cheating on her. However, with a little encouragement from her best friend, she decides to go out and hopefully have some fun. Meeting Jax Roland promises to be a night she won't forget until he disappears and doesn't return like he promised. But when she finds he's her new guest and the star of the home improvement show she contacted to renovate her house, she decides keeping her distance from him is best. Yet, Jax isn't about to let that happen. Not when there's so much chemistry bouncing between them. Will Ashton be able to put her trust in another man again or will Jax's secrets ruin any chance they have at happy ever after?

What a fun and captivating read Ms. Mills and Ms. Louise have delivered in this book that had me laughing and smiling throughout and where the main characters entertained me from the start to finish; the secondary characters were just as entertaining as the main ones; and the dialogue had me enjoying the growing relationship between Jax and Ashton, their back stories and everything they go through on their journey to happy ever after, especially the moment their relationship goes awry. The way this story started had me liking the heroine immediately, as she's brave in doing what she's doing. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine meet where things get very interesting, as Jax is interested, but has his reasons for disappearing. Will Ashton be able to trust Jax?

With the main characters, the heroine is resilient, stubborn and I liked how determined she was to open a B&B as long as she can get the house renovated and ready to accept guests. I also liked the tight friendship she shares with her best friend because her friend is encouraging and wants her to be happy and could also really help her when it comes to the issues she's facing with her brother who is more interested in money than supporting his sister's dreams. While the hero, he's confident, hard-working and I liked how determined he was to win over the heroine, especially since the first time they met didn't work out quite as he'd hoped. However, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him because coming back to South Carolina isn't easy for him. Luckily, Ashton -- at least -- make things better, but Jax has secrets that made me feel sorry for the heroine because there was no way the truth wasn't going to come out. Will she be able to forgive him?

Overall, these two authors have penned a really good read in this book where emotions run high, the chemistry between this couple was powerful; the romance was hot and shows how good these two are together; and the ending had me crying happy tears because of the news the pair receive and because these two are so deserving of their happy ever after that they shouldn't let anything keep them apart. I would recommend The Right Stud by Isla Madden-Mills and Tia Louise, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope, the mysterious strangers trope or books by authors K. Bromberg, Melanie Harlow, Vi Keeland and Corinne Michaels.

In From Your Heart (For Your Love #4) by Shannyn Schroeder, Kevin O'Malley has never forgotten about Kathy Hendricks. So, he's determined to make things right and win back the woman who ghosted him after she thought their relationship was way more serious than he did. Will Kevin be able to win Kathy back or will she end up breaking his heart this time around?

I found it really hard to get into this book at first because I wasn't feeling any sort of connection between the main characters, but I'm glad I stuck with it because it was a very enjoyable story in the end. Really, the dialogue drew me in because Kevin is charming, confident and so determined to win the heroine over. Can he prove to Kathy that he's changed? Will the heroine give him another chance after how things ended between them?

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after because winning back Kathy isn't easy. Does the once a cheater always a cheater adage make it impossible for the heroine to even consider giving Kevin another chance? Moreover, there were moments when I wanted to scream at the heroine because Kevin is a good guy that made a mistake. However, in saying that, she's been through a lot and it's understandable why she finds it hard to trust. Really, everything that's happened in her life has made her the independent woman she is. While the hero, he's confident, charming and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over because he wants her back. I also liked the close relationship he has with his friends and that he isn't afraid to tease his brother's soon-to-be bride. Really, the pair have a fun friendship, which sometimes feels like their enemies. But, in fact, their relationship feels more like they're frenemies.

Overall, Ms. Schroeder has delivered a really good read in this book where I felt no chemistry between this couple in the beginning, but found their connection gets stronger the more time they spend together; the romance was nicely-detailed and had me liking that the heroine was willing to give the hero another chance, even though she doesn't know whether she'll ever be able to fully trust him; and the ending had me loving that Kevin doesn't give up on Kathy, even though she gives him every reason to. Will she finally realize that Kevin is the right guy for her and always has been? I would recommend From Your Heart by Shannyn Schroeder, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Melanie Shawn, Samantha Chase, Terri Anne Browning and Stacy Finz.

In On Highland Time by Lexi Post, Diana faces a tough challenge in infiltrating the MacPherson Clan. Yet, being one of the best agents for Time Weavers Inc has prepared her for anything. Well, at least she thought it had until she meets Torr MacPherson. Determined to find someone changing time and in turn affecting the future, Diana knows she can't afford to be distracted. Will Diana be able to complete her mission or will she lose the man she's falling in love with?

What do you get when you combine a sexy Highlander hero and a time-traveling heroine with plenty of determination to succeed in her mission? Well, the answer is an absolutely fascinating, exciting and captivating read that drew this reader in right from the beginning because the characters were fantastic, the dialogue entertaining and the plot fast-paced and filled with plenty of tension, emotion and tough obstacles for this couple to overcome. The way this story started had me liking the heroine immediately, as it's palpable her mission isn't going to be easy and she can't afford to be distracted. Will she succeed in finding the person she's after?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main character back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after since they have some seriously tough obstacles to overcome. Will Torr be able to handle what the heroine has been keeping from him? Will the hero give a relationship between them a chance, especially when one of them would have to give up a lot for the pair to be together? Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how she challenges the hero because she doesn't fall for his charms as easily as the women in his time. I also liked the growing friendships she shares with various secondary characters and that she stands up for herself when it comes to people questioning her every move.

While the hero, he's been through quite a lot in his life and it's understandable why he doesn't do relationships. However, in saying that, I liked his determination to win the heroine over. Certainly, he has confidence in spades and can be quite charming. Will the hero be able to win Diana over? How long will it take for her to finally give in to the intense chemistry that exists between them? Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his loyalty to his family and those he believes he has a duty to protect. Will he be able to keep his people safe?

Overall, Ms. Post has delivered a wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was hot and had me loving these two together, as the heroine knows what a bad idea getting involved with the hero is, but she gets involved anyway; and the ending left me completely satisfied with how these two come together again after their relationship goes awry. Will the hero be able to handle the decision he makes in order to be with the heroine? Will he be able to handle his new life? I would recommend On Highland Time by Lexi Post, if you enjoy Historical Romance, Time-Travel Romance or books by authors Jennifer Trethewey, Tamara Gill, Barbara Longley and Suzan Tisdale.

Torr took her reaction in stride and began a tender assault on her neck.

She pushed against him, and he allowed her a little space. She was grateful because despite her training, she doubted she could do much to take down such a huge man, especially if she didn’t want to hurt him. But he kept his arms about her waist.

“What is it, lass?”

It was everything. She wanted to cry and laugh at the impossible situation she found herself in, even as her body shivered with a growing need. She simply shook her head and tried to step back, but he held her with gentle strength.

Didn’t he understand? She needed to put more space between them, in so many ways. Her breaths came quickly, her body flushed from the desire he’d ignited. A desire she never remembered experiencing before. She closed her eyes and tried to think of the rolling mountains beyond the castle walls, but they faded quickly and instead she envisioned Torr, cupping her breasts.

She snapped open her eyes to find him staring at her, a crooked grin on his face.

“I want ye, Diana. Ye have a fire in ye that calls me like the spring sun to the seedling.”

Oh, Shakespeare, now he was a poet, too? She couldn’t do this. He was due to die… She had to find the Disruptor… She had to—

His deep voice soothed her. “I understand. Life here at Gealach is new and strange, and I have possibly presumed too much, too soon. “Ye miss yer clan, do ye not?”

She didn’t say anything. His kindness causing a lump to form in her throat. His warm, big body so close to hers with the scent of leather and the clean smell from his bath was so primitively male, he had her feeling safe, protected.

He pulled her body against his again. Instead of feeling physical attraction, she wanted to simply snuggle in. Hesitantly, she let her head fall against his shoulder.

As they stood there, his chest rising and falling in steady rhythm beneath her cheek, memories of her dad doing the same calmed her. When she’d done poorly on a test, not made the volleyball team, or when she was dumped by her first boyfriend in ninth grade, dad had held her just like this. Torr would make a good father…except he was destined to die.

She stiffened. Did Torr have any children after the Disruptor saved him? He deserved children.

He reacted to her body language and stroked her back. “I know it is hard. I too have lost many of my family.”

She pulled back to look at his face, anxious to hear what he’d reveal.

“Unlike ye, I didn’t know my mother. She died shortly after Kerr was born. Five sons took too much out of her. But my brothers and my father made a family.”

She put her hand on his chest, feeling the sadness behind his words. This man deserved comfort more than she did. He had endured so much, and yet still offered more to others.

He covered her hand with his and sighed. “The war has taken all but Kerr from me. Him and the few left in our wee clan. I’m glad ye joined us. I hope ye will eventually feel this is yer home.” His inner sadness called to her in a different way from his persuasive sexual advances. In that moment, he touched her heart.

“I’m sure I will. It is the only home I have now.” She grimaced inside at such a bald-faced lie.

In Lock 'n' Load (Federal K-9 #1) by Tee O'Fallon, CIA analyst Trista Gold is very good at her job. However, while investigating something that should have been easy enough for her to reconnoiter without someone discovering her identity, she stumbles across something that could make her a target. Luckily, she has Sargeant Matt Connors to watch her back after someone tries to end her life -- not once but twice. Will Matt be able to keep her safe or will the pair lose their shot at happy ever after?

If you've never read anything by Ms. O'Fallon before, this book would be an absolutely brilliant one to start with, as it takes readers on a memorizing suspense-filled journey almost right from the beginning and just keeps getting more entertaining with everything the main characters go through on their journey to happy ever after. Really, the way this story started introduces the main characters superbly and had me reading quickly, determined to discover how much danger the heroine faces because of what she learns. Will the hero be able to keep her safe?

As for the dialogue, it was highly entertaining and had me loving the danger these two face, as they don't know who they can trust besides the secondary characters that Matt has really tight friendships with. Moreover, throughout this story the heroine continually surprised me with her grit and determination and I liked that she wasn't afraid to call the hero out, especially when it came to his past and the fact that he finally needs to face it to be able to heal in hopes they can have a future together. I also liked the growing friendships she had with the secondary characters in Matt's friends, as they're just as protective of her as Matt is. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her determination to do her job no matter how much danger she places herself in. What information will she discover that anyone would do anything to keep buried?

While the hero, he's absolutely brilliant and I loved him from the moment he was introduced. He's confident in his skills as an K-9 officer and I liked the tight relationship he has with his dog; a dog that knows all the tricks to get its way (well, at least with the heroine once she faces her fear). I also liked how protective the hero was of the heroine and that he would do anything to keep her safe. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the decisions he makes in order to have a chance at forever with the heroine. Will he be able to face his past and finally be absolved of the guilt he's felt for years?

Overall, Ms. O'Fallon has delivered a fantastic and unputdownable read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was powerful; the romance was hot and had me loving how determined Matt is to take care of Trista because she doesn't have much experience with men; and the ending had me loving the lengths the hero was willing to go to for the heroine when they finally face off against the bad guys. However, it was how determined the hero was to make things right with the heroine that I loved most about the ending. Really, it was heart-warming and had me crying happy tears, especially combined with what Matt does in the epilogue in order to show the heroine he wants forever with her. I would recommend Lock 'n' Load by Tee O'Fallon, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the opposites attract trope, the sexy protector trope, or books by authors Laura Griffin, Katie Reus, Katie Ruggle and Piper J. Drake.

She shut her eyes, squeezing them tightly, willing the flood of fury shooting through her to calm. Somehow, she knew he was right, but he’d just sent her entire world tilting on its axis and she couldn’t handle it.
Letting out a soft breath, she covered her mouth with her hand. The rage and fury seething within her fled like air from a popped balloon. Then, to her horror, tears pricked her eyes. Before she could stop it, she was gulping down air, but it didn’t help.
“Are you—” Matt halted in mid-sentence. “Oh, no.” He began shaking his head. “Hell, no. Don’t you dare cry on me.”
She couldn’t help it. The tears began to fall and she couldn’t stop them. The next thing she knew, Matt uttered a groan and his arms were around her, pulling her against his chest.
Intending to shove him away from her, she clenched her fists, but then his hands were on her back, making gentle, soothing motions and it felt too good to move. She clutched at his damp shirt, digging her fingers into his flesh through the soft fabric.
“Shh,” he whispered, his lips grazing the top of her head, then her temples. “Everything will work out okay. I’m sure of it.”
Still holding fast to his shirt, she took a series of short breaths, trying to rein in her meltdown. She hoped he was right, but at the moment, it didn’t matter. Until further notice, the one thing that meant more in the world to her than anything else had been cruelly taken from her.
“I’m sorry, Tris. I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
He pulled away enough that she could look up at his face. It was only then that she noticed the tiny gold flecks floating in the midst of his deep brown eyes.
When her mouth opened, his gaze dipped and he bent his head. His lips brushed hers, softly at first, then with more pressure. Without realizing she was doing it at first, she kissed him back.
With a groan, he sifted his fingers through her hair, covering her mouth with his. His lips were warm and soft, his touch gentle. Using light pressure, he urged her lips open with his tongue.
Biting back a soft cry, she opened her mouth. The instant his tongue tangled with hers, her body trembled with need and she clutched at him tighter. Cupping her nape, he deepened the kiss, angling her head, massaging her neck with long, strong fingers. His taste on her tongue was so new, she couldn’t find the words to describe it. It was hot and wonderful, stirring up a fiery, passion-fueled craving she’d never experienced before.
His hand skated across her back, leaving a trail of delicious tingles on her skin, and still, his tongue sought hers again and again. An unfamiliar ache started low in her belly, uncurling, blooming into something she did understand. Desire.
The hunger in her belly spread lower, hotter, until something inside her snapped, unleashed like a wild animal sensing freedom for the first time.
