In The Game Changer (Knights of Passion #3) by Megan Ryder, Dylan Prosser's career as catcher for the Knights baseball team doesn't leave him much time to do anything else. Clearly, he doesn't have time to care for a dog, so how is it that animal lover Savannah Monroe manages to convince him to take the one he was planning to leave at the local animal shelter home with him. Knowing he needs help to take care of his new dog, Savannah agrees to lend him a hand. However, the more time Dylan spends with Savannah, the more he finds himself unable to resist her. The question is -- will Savannah's desire to achieve her dream when it comes to rescuing animals put their growing relationship at risk, or will Dylan realize that Savannah isn't like the other people in his life that like to take advantage of who he is and what he can do for them?

Ms. Ryder has really outdone herself when it comes to this book, and I've got to say that -- in my opinion -- it's the best in the series yet. Right from the beginning, this story was riveting, fast-paced and a story I finished in record time because of its entertaining plot, well-written dialogue and amazing characters that had so much chemistry between them, which eventually spilled over onto the pages in nicely-detailed and completely hot sex scenes that did justice to this couple's intense chemistry.

The way this story started with Dylan dealing with his sister and her excuses had me feeling sorry for him. They were once very close, and now she's out of control in trying to keep her career going. Why does she continue to let their mother control her life? However, it was the moment that the hero and heroine met where things really got interesting. Savannah totally loses it and I could understand why because she's so passionate about saving animals, as animals are easier to deal with than people and can't hurt her.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and their reasons for keeping most people at a distance. Savannah was hurt by her previous relationship and craves stability because of the way she grew up. Can Dylan offer her that when he's constantly travelling to play baseball? Can he prove to her that not all men are like her ex? That there are people that think what she does to rescue animals is admirable, which is proven by all Dylan does for her when it comes to her dream of expanding her rescue operations.

Both the main characters were compelling, and I couldn't get enough of them, especially Dylan. He doesn't have it easy with his family, just like Savannah doesn't have it easy with hers. Both have sisters that need them, and I liked how the secondary characters helped the main ones realize that they should give the other a chance, no matter what causes the snags in their growing relationship. Because it's palpable to everyone that Savannah is good for Dylan and vice versa.

While Savannah, she's strong, brave, independent and isn't afraid to speak her mind when it comes to something she's passionate about. The way she spoke to Dylan when they first met had me surprised at her outburst, as I wasn't expecting her to lose it the way she did. Also, I liked how kind, caring and passionate she was about rescuing every dog that came her way, even though there were moments that made me tear up, as the heroine knew it was impossible to save them all.

Overall, Ms Ryder has penned an incredible read in this book, which has me looking forward to more of this series, because of the way things turned out for various secondary characters including a broken relationship and an injury to one of Dylan's teammates. As for the ending, it was perfect, as Dylan proved to Savannah how much he loved her. Certainly, he found a way to win her back by doing what he does in both the last chapter and the epilogue. Especially since he over-reacted to what he thinks she did to cause them to go their separate ways at the critical moment in the story. I would recommend The Game Changer by Megan Ryder, if you enjoy sports romances or books by authors Carly Phillips, Katie Rose or Lisa B. Kamps.

BLURB:
After the ultimate abandonment by her family, Savannah Monroe channels her savior-complex tendencies into helping animals because they can't hurt her like people can. Life at the animal rescue shelter has always provided the security and personal reward that she needs to be happy while protecting her heart.

All-star catcher Dylan Prosser always has his head in the game. Accustomed to keeping opponents from stealing bases, Dylan is completely focused on getting the team to the playoffs no matter what the cost. He definitely doesn’t expect anyone to steal his heart and turn his life upside down–least of all, a stray dog and a beautiful girl.

But as she works with Sadie, Savannah soon realizes that his dog isn’t the only one who needs saving…
