Parental Guidance
Ice Knights #1
By Avery Flynn
Releasing 17th June, 2019
Entangled Publishing

All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me.

Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun.

What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that.

Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan.

USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staff knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

In Drove All Night (Passing Through #1) by Sarah Hegger, after losing her husband, Poppy Williams has decided to start over. Moving to California with her four children is her decision and no one is going to talk her out of it. However, her journey doesn't going as planned and she and her kids end up in Twin Elks, Colorado where she meets the gorgeous police chief, Ben Crowe. Will Poppy decide to stay or will she end up leaving?

What a fun and enthralling read Ms. Hegger has delivered in this first book of her Passing Through series where the secondary characters entertained me as much as the main ones; the dialogue was compelling and had me loving the heroine's children who are just absolutely adorable and had me enjoying the growing relationship between the hero and heroine, as both are wary of relationships after what happened with the last relationship they had. How could anyone hurt two people as good as Poppy and Ben the way they did?

The way this story started had me sympathizing with the heroine because of what she's going through and it's understandable why she's so desperate for help. Will Ben be the hero she needs or will he do his duty as a police officer? Moreover, both the main characters are relatable, likeable and I loved the obstacles they face to be together such as whether they can get past being scared of giving another relationship a try and whether the heroine will allow the hero's ex to get to her with the things she says to Poppy.

With the heroine, she's resilient, courageous, independent and I liked how she handled everything she has to, especially when it comes to her mother-in-law. Really, what a witch! I also liked how good of a parent the heroine is because being a single parent to four kids wouldn't be easy. Luckily, she has the best kids, even if they do get a little adventurous at times that could get them into trouble. While the hero, he's the strong, silent type and a really good guy that would do anything to help people. Will Poppy accept his help? I also liked how Poppy and Ben helped each other to heal from the wounds of their pasts and gave each other a chance because they're good for each other.

Overall, this was a delightful read where the chemistry between this couple was strong and convincing; the romance was hot; and which has me looking forward to other books of this series, especially with how this story ended. I would recommend Drove All Night by Sarah Hegger, if you enjoy small town romances or books by authors TM Cromer, Erin Nicholas, Marina Adair and Jill Sanders.

Author Bio

Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.

Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.

She currently lives in Colorado with her teenage daughters, two retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.

In Beach Wedding Weekend by Rachel Magee, when Paige discovers her ex-boyfriend is back in town to stay she realizes she wants the man she still loves back. So, in order to make her ex jealous she comes up with a plan to use her best friend's brother, Aiden, as her fake boyfriend. However, the more time she spends with Aiden, the more she finds herself falling for the guy that doesn't do commitment. Will Paige and Aiden get the happy ever after they both deserve or will Paige end up with a broken heart?

What a fun and entertaining read Ms. Magee has delivered in this book where the main characters are captivating because of their back stories and their growing relationship; the dialogue was compelling and had me smiling at various moments throughout, especially when Aiden and Paige come up with terms of endearment for each other; and the plot was fast-paced and drew me in right from the beginning, as Paige and Aiden are such interesting characters and have such a good friendship. Certainly, Aiden knows how to cheer Paige up when life isn't going to plan in her career as a wedding planner.

With the main characters, I absolutely loved this pair together. The hero is confident; charming; a good businessman and I enjoyed that he fought for what he wanted professionally. I also liked that he did his best to keep his feelings out of the agreement he had with Paige but found it impossible not to fall in love with her. While the heroine, she's a good friend, kind, caring, hard-working and I loved that she was so willing to help Aiden with his need to woo investors in order to achieve the deal he wants. I also liked the decisions the heroine made throughout this story, especially when it came to her ex. Did the guy ever really love her or did he love being in a relationship?

Overall, Ms. Magee has penned a really good read in this book where the chemistry between Paige and Aiden is strong and convincing; the romance was sweet; and the ending had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after, as Aiden needs Paige in his life. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because dreams should be chased and love is forever. I would recommend Beach Wedding Weekend by Rachel Magee, if you enjoy the fake relationship trope or books by authors Nancy Naigle, Debbie Macomber, Bella Andre and Barbara Freethy.

Rachel wrote her first novel when she was twelve and entered it into a contest for young author/illustrators. Unfortunately, the judges weren't impressed with her stick figures, so she dropped the dream of becoming a world-famous illustrator and stuck to spinning stories. When she's not busy working on her latest book, she loves to travel with her family and friends. By far, her favorite destination is the beach, which tends to work its way into most of her stories. Between vacations, you can find her at home in The Woodlands, TX with her wonderful husband, their two adventurous kids and a couple of spirited pets.

And even harder to resist the fall that might break them both…

A steamy medical contemporary romance from USA Today best-selling author Kimberly Kincaid. Watch this cocky hero fall head over scalpel for his sweet and sexy BFF. Full-length standalone story with action in the emergency room and the bedroom, and a sweet-and-sexy happily ever after.

In Better Than Me (Remington Medical #2) by Kimberly Kincaid, Jonah is a man that loves his space. However, when his best friend finds herself homeless, he reluctantly offers to let her stay. Yet, the more time he and Natalie spend together living in tight quarters, the more Jonah finds himself falling for the one woman he shouldn't fall in love with because he doesn't want to lose her friendship. Not when he's a man that doesn't do commitment. Will Natalie and Jonah give happy ever after between them a chance or will they lose their friendship?

What an absolutely captivating, emotionally-animated, superbly-crafted read Ms. Kincaid has delivered in this second book of her Remington Medical series encompassing compelling dialogue that had me reading quickly determined to discover whether this couple would be able to overcome the tough obstacles they face to be together; and remarkable characters whose back stories tugged at my heartstrings and had me enjoying Natalie's fight for independence and prove to her family that they don't need to be so overprotective.

With the main characters, I absolutely loved Jonah. He's one of the best heroes Ms. Kincaid has concocted. He's a good friend, hard-working and determined to help every patient that comes his way and it's understandable why he doesn't do relationships and commitment after what happened with his mom and dad and what happened with his last relationship. I also liked his determination to make things work with Natalie while she's staying with him, even though he's a man that likes his space. While Natalie, she's been through so much and goes through so much in this book that made my heart break for her. Why does life have to be so unfair? However, in saying that, she's strong, brave, kind, caring, a good doctor and I liked that she gave Jonah a chance, even knowing he doesn't do commitment and she wants forever love. Really, she's such a romantic at heart.

Overall, Ms. Kincaid has delivered a remarkable and emotional read in this book which had me smiling, laughing and crying at various moments throughout this story; the chemistry between this couple was potent and believable; the romance was delightful and had me loving these two together, as Jonah needs Natalie in his life; and the ending had me crying happy tears because of Jonah's determination to fight for his relationship with Natalie. He's not giving up on her and isn't about to let her get away, even though she's afraid he might lose her because of the battle she faces. Will everything be all right? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as we get to know a bit more about Connor, which should make things interesting for the next book because it's clear he has secrets that he doesn't want anyone to discover. I would recommend Better Than Me by Kimberly Kincaid, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope, the opposites attract trope, the temporary roommate trope, or books by authors Avery Flynn, Erin Nicholas, Catherine Bybee and Jennifer Blackwood.
