In Abducted (Dangerous Distractions #1) by Samantha Keith, Cal Hart earns a living by taking contracts from the highest bidder. However, when he takes a contract to kill Lana Vanderpoel, he knows there's no way he can go through with it. So, instead, he decides to kidnap her while trying to hunt for the person that put the hit out on her. But when the truth comes out, will Cal be able to protect Lana or will they lose their chance at happy ever after?

What an exciting, fast-paced, engaging read Ms. Keith has delivered in this first book of her Dangerous Distractions series where the main characters -- especially the heroine -- go through a lot, as they try to get to the bottom of who wants Lana dead. How long will it take for Cal to discover the truth? Will he be able to keep Lana safe in the meantime? The way this story starts sets the fast-pace of the story and I loved the moment these two meet, as Lana doesn't make things easy for Cal. Then again, what person being kidnapped would make things easy for their kidnapper, even if they are kidnapping them for the right reasons?

As for the dialogue, it was intense and riveting due to the main characters back stories and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after. There's danger, intrigue and surprising twists that had me worried for the heroine's safety. Still, Cal is good at his job and I liked how far he's willing to go to protect Lana. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked that she put her trust in Cal, especially after how they meet that gives her no reason to trust him. While the hero, I loved how driven he is in his pursuit of finding the person responsible for wanting Lana dead. I also liked how determined he is to protect Lana because the person wanting her dead could be anyone. Maybe even someone she thinks she can trust.

Overall, Ms. Keith has delivered a really good read in this book, which had a good dose of suspense and where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was delightful; and the ending took me by surprise when the person who wants Lana dead was revealed? Why do they want the heroine dead? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as Lana and Cal both surprise each other with something that will bring more happiness to their lives. I would recommend Abducted by Samantha Keith, if you enjoy romantic suspense or books by authors Kari Lemor, Kendall Talbot, Desiree Holt and Karen Rock.

In a high-stakes world of privilege, betrayal, and the sexy thrill of the unknown, you never know where a dangerous distraction will lead . . .

Cal Hart walks a blurred line of honor. The rock-hard former Marine has his lethal skills at the service of the highest bidder. Until a contract comes in to kill Lana Vanderpoel, the sultry, charismatic heiress and billionaire’s daughter. She’s way too sexy to end up at the wrong end of a silencer. So Cal takes the job—and starts planning how to get Lana to safety while he unearths who’s behind the threat . . .

Lana only knows she’s been kidnapped—and she’ll fight tooth and nail against whoever has snatched her from her life. Her stern-faced captor sends a tremor of ice through her veins, yet a thrill lies beneath her unease. He’s dark and dangerous, his body ripped, honed, and capable. But lust isn’t the same as trust—and whether or not she can believe what Cal’s telling her, there’s at least one person close to Lana who wants her dead . . .

In What I've Done (Morgan Dane #4) by Melinda Leigh, Morgan Dane has a tough case ahead of her when she takes on Haley Powell as a client. She's been charged with murder, but the more Morgan and her exceptional PI team in her boss Sharp and her boyfriend/partner Lance Kruger investigate the case, the more they think Haley is being framed. Will they be able to get Haley off the charges or will the person who framed Haley do everything they can to stop Morgan from discovering the truth?

If you've never read a book by Ms. Leigh than as a reader you're missing out on some brilliant writing because her romantic suspense consist of a brilliant amount of suspense with a nice dose of sweet romance to match it. Really, the hero and heroine are always on-the-go, tracking down leads and this book certainly takes the pair on an adventurous journey to get to the truth of what happened to the man that Haley is accused of murdering.

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining and intense due to the case they're determined to solve and the obstacles they face to get to the truth. Really, I was on the edge-of-my-seat at times with worry for the main characters. Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave and I love reading bits about her back story every time I read a new book for this series. She's such an interesting heroine that has been through so much. Things that have made her the resilient admirable woman she is that lots of people want as a lawyer because she's so good at what she does. Really, she goes above and beyond in her pursuit of the truth, especially in this case that could definitely spell danger if Morgan isn't careful.

Overall, Ms. Leigh has delivered an absolutely fantastic read in this book where the investigation sets the fast-pace of the story, as Morgan and her partner get to the bottom of what really happened; and the ending had me loving what Morgan learns. Will Morgan be able to prove Haley is innocent? Certainly, it's not an easy case to figure out who was responsible for the murder. I would recommend What I've Done by Melinda Leigh, if you enjoy romantic suspense or books by authors Kendra Elliott, Laura Griffin, Mary Burton and Cynthia Eden.

Samuel Keegan used to man the wheel of the Sea Dog over 200 years ago, but these days he’s the front man of a southern rock band. Rum and women are plentiful, but his world is changing rapidly now that his crew is back together searching for the Holy Grail to break their curse. But the quest leads him to a historian with raven hair and a wicked smile. She holds all the answers, but she could also spell death for them all.

Dr. Charlotte Sinclair works for the Maritime Museum in Savannah, an expert on ancient pirate wrecks. When a government agent requests her help in a top-secret investigation, she discovers not only is the Holy Grail real, but the lead singer of her favorite band is actually the immortal pilot of the Sea Dog crew.

The search for the Grail opens some dark secrets better left hidden, and Charlotte’s life might depend on one Pirate’s Passion…

Each book in the Sentinels of Savannah series is STANDALONE:
* Magnolia Mystic
* Pirate’s Passion

In Pirate's Passion (Sentinels of Savannah #2) by Lisa Kessler, Dr. Charlotte Sinclair finds herself embroiled in a dangerous game when a government agent comes to her for help  in her work as a Historian. She's an expert on pirate wrecks, so she's intrigued by the research she's asked to undertake to help find the Holy Grail. However, she never imagined she'd fall in love love or uncover a secret that would make her afraid of herself. But when things become dangerous, will she and Samuel Keegan fight and win against the bad guys or will they lose their shot at happy ever after?

What another fantastic addition to this series Ms. Kessler has delivered in this second book of her Sentinels of Savannah series where the main characters have interesting back stories and face tough obstacles to be together; and the dialogue was entertaining and intense due to main characters back stories, and the secret that's been hidden from the heroine that makes her a danger to anyone looking to hurt her and those she cares about. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as there's plenty of chemistry between this pair and I couldn't wait to read how Charlotte would help Samuel on his quest to find the Holy Grail.

With the main characters, the heroine was resilient and courageous when she learns things about her life that turn it upside down and make her worried how dangerous she really is. I also liked how determined she was to help the crew in their mission. Will they get what they want most -- to be able to drink the Holy Grail again, so they can retain their immortality? Since it appears they were starting to slowly lose their immortality? While the hero, he's confident, a little cocky, protective of his crew as well as the heroine, and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though he doesn't do relationships because he's already lost so much in his life and is not willing to lose anymore. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the close friendships he has with his crew and how they tease each other, especially when it comes to the hero's growing relationship with Charlotte.

Overall, Ms. Kessler has delivered a really good read in this book where the secondary characters entertained me just as much as the main ones, especially the government agent; the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was nicely-detailed and hot; and the ending had me loving the danger these two face when they go up against the bad guys. Will Samuel and Charlotte come out on top? I would recommend Pirate's Passion by Lisa Kessler, if you enjoy paranormal romance or books by authors NJ Walters, Nina Croft, Mary Hughes and Heather Long.

Fall in love this holiday season with this heartwarming story about finding romance, the magic of Christmas, and the importance of family...

Children's bookstore owner Addie Mayberry believes in the magic of Christmas. Or at least, she used to. He wasn't exactly winning dad-of-the-year awards before, so he's determined to make it up to Bella. And with Addie's help, he's slowly repairing his relationship with his daughter. The last thing he wants is to fall in love, since that road only leads to pain, but he can't stop thinking about Addie. In A Christmas Miracle for the Doctor (Shadow Creek #6) by Victoria James, Drew Barrett moved back to Shadow Creek to make a better life for him and his daughter after the child's mother decided she wanted out of their lives. Determined to concentrate on his daughter, he's decided he doesn't have time for a relationship. However, spending time with Addie -- a woman his daughter adores -- he begins to find it harder and harder to keep his distance. Will he take a chance on happy ever after again or will he break Addie's heart?

I have loved this series from book one, but I found this story taking me a while to fully get into, even though I absolutely adored the hero's daughter. Really, there was something about the heroine that made her feel a little too good to be true, especially with the hero's daughter, Isabella, having grown so attached to Addie. Yet, the more I read about the heroine, her flaws and her back story the more I warmed up to her. Life hasn't been easy and I could understand why she's so protective of Isabella when it comes to what the young girl is facing at school. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as it's palpable the heroine really likes the hero. Will the hero give another relationship a chance?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, what's happening with the hero's daughter that gets Addie so worked up and everything these two go through on their journey to happy ever after that had me wondering whether the hero would take a chance. Moreover, there were moments where the heroine's insecurities frustrated me and I wanted to shout 'listen-to-your-sisters'. Yet, I've got to admit that I could understand why she has them after what happened to her back in school and what makes her fight so hard for the hero's daughter.

While the hero, he was fantastic. I loved the bond between him and his daughter as well as the bond between the heroine and the little girl. They each are willing to do whatever it takes to make the hero's daughter's life a happy one. I also liked the hero's determination not to hurt the heroine. He's so considerate of Addie's feelings, especially with all that she's been through. Not only with high school jerks, but knowing she's not good enough in her mother's eyes too. Really, her mother is a piece of work that doesn't deserve to have such wonderful daughters in Addie and her two sisters.

Overall, Ms. James has a delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was sweet; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to win the heroine's heart. Really, Addie has become important to him and he can't let her get away. I would recommend A Christmas Miracle for the Doctor by Victoria James, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope, Christmas themed stories with happy endings, or books by authors Sonya Weiss, Jennifer Hoopes, Jennifer Shirk and Joann Sky.

About the Book:

After her carefully ordered world imploded, Paige Taylor cracks up. On her tenth self-help book, it seemed like a good idea at the time to reinvent herself––move from Manhattan to the tiny beachside town of St. Clair––and take over the local bookstore.

But instead of discovering her spiritual Nirvana, she’s neck-deep in a floundering business, the locals treat her like a plague victim, and her mom’s suddenly decided to visit––with no end in sight––and keeps coming home with one surprise after the next.

Added to that pot of crazy, the one guy who sets her pulse racing has sworn off women forever. He’s got a Samsonite filled with baggage, but damn he looks good hauling it down the street. And giving her those sexy half-smiles. And tempting her to take him for a test ride.

Soon Paige discovers that reinventing herself takes more than just a change of address and a pithy quote on Instagram. She needs to face the truth about her life, and that’s something she can’t do alone.

It’s what he does—with his teenage daughters, with the family business, and now with Lakeside. But the gossip mill in the town is notorious.
