REVIEW: AGAINST ALL ODDS by JEZZ DE SILVA

Against all Odds
Outback Hearts #1
By Jezz De Silva
Releasing September18th, 2017
Entangled Publishing

In Against all Odds (Outback Hearts #1) by Jezz De Silva, Abigail Williams is in for the fight of her life, so embarking on a trip to Australia is the perfect idea before she undergoes surgery. However, she never imagined she'd meet the love of her life on the flight from LA to Australia. Spending time with Sergeant Ryder Harper is a dream come true, but when the time comes for her to leave, will Ryder be able to stick to the promise he makes her or will he do everything he can to fight for their chance at forever after?

This is the first book I've read by this author, but I've got to say that it won't be my last, especially when it comes to this series since Ryder's family are an absolute delight and I'd love to read more about them, as his siblings each deserve their happy ever after too. Right from the beginning, this story was extremely riveting, as the heroine is a total survivor and doing everything she can to enjoy life to the fullest in case she doesn't survive what she's going through. However, the moment that the hero and heroine met was one of the best moments, as both have been through so much and after the sweet thing she witnesses Ryder do, it's hard for her not to be fascinated by him.

As for the dialogue, it took me on an emotional rollercoaster, as the hero and heroine have been through difficult times in their lives and it was hard not to be affected by everything that's happened to them. Truly, Abigail isn't the only one that's a total trooper; someone that's had to fight for their life. However, in saying that, the dialogue wasn't all intense and made me laugh or smile due to the heroine's sassiness and her desire to make her adventure the trip of a lifetime. Will Abigail experience everything on her bucket list?

Both the main characters were enthralling and their back stories certainly made them the engaging and fascinating characters they are. The heroine has been through so much, and yet, she continues to fight for her life with everything in her, even though she may die because of what she has. Really, she's resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to have fun and enjoy the adventure she was on. I also liked the bond she shared with her sister and how the pair would do anything for each other, especially since Abigail did so much for her sister growing up and now it seems her sister is determined to return the favor.

While the hero, he's had it tough due to his time in the military and what happened to him that had him leaving the elite military unit he was a part of. Yet, he's confident, strong,  brave and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though she has a condition that when it's time for her to leave that he needs to let her go without a fight. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is the bond he shares with his family and how their warmth and love for each other extends to Abigail, even before they get to know her fully.

Overall, this author has penned a well-written and highly entertaining read in this story where the chemistry between this couple was off-the-charts and had me reading quickly, determined to discover how things would work out for this couple. Will Abigail survive what's happening to her for the pair to have their happy ever after? However, in saying that, I was stunned by what happens to the heroine that tears this couple's relationship apart at the critical moment in the story, but I absolutely loved how things worked out for this couple, as no one is more deserving of happy ever after than Ryder and Abigail. Yet, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up wonderfully, because of what the heroine's sister did for her to make sure Abigail lived her life for her. I would recommend Against all Odds by Jezz De Silva, if you enjoy books with ex-military heroes or sassy heroines; or if you enjoy books by authors Tif Marcelo, Mia Sosa, Olivia Dade and Amy Andrews.

The bomb ticking inside Abigail Williams has shadowed every moment of her adult life. With the timer counting down, Abi embarks on one final adventure into the Australian outback before returning to L.A. to fight for her life.

Sergeant Ryder Harper survived over a decade in Australia’s most elite military unit. He’s ready to hang up his assault rifle and drag what’s left of his broken body back home. He dreads the long flight back to Brisbane, until he collides with the stubborn, maddening seductress sitting beside him.

Abi ignites a need deep inside Ryder, leaving him desperate for more time with this woman with mesmerizing eyes and an even more intoxicating spirit. But when Abi finally relents to Ryder’s offer to be her outback guide, she has one condition: When it’s time, he’ll have to let her go.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: NIGHTS CARESS by MARY HUGHES

Author Mary Hughes’ newest release NIGHT’S CARESS is book one in The Ancients series. Brie Lark has given up her hometown and vampires.  Too bad the FBI just teamed her with the perfect male specimen, special agent and ancient vampire, Seb Rikare.

Night's Caress
The Ancients #1
By Mary Hughes
Releasing September 25th, 2017
Entangled Publishing

In Night's Caress (The Ancients #1) by Mary Hughes, going back to her hometown was something Brie Lark swore she'd never do, but there's no way Brie can pass up helping FBI Special Agent Seb Rikare with his investigation into a series of murders. However, he's a vampire and Brie swore never to give another vampire a chance not after what her ex did. But the further into the investigation the pair get, the higher the risk of Brie getting hurt unless Seb can protect her. Will the pair be able to survive the danger closing in on them to achieve their happy ever after, or will the pair go their separate ways because they can't let go of what happened to them in their pasts?

It's been a while since I've read a book by Ms. Hughes, but I'm glad I chose to read this first book of her new series, because it was fantastically-written and a very entertaining read due to the enchanting main characters that face a good dose of danger during the investigation; and riveting dialogue that had me wanting to know whether these two could overcome the disasters of their past relationships to be together. The way this story started was exciting and certainly drew me into this story immediately, because of the discovery that's been made and whether Seb can find the person responsible for the killings. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that had me wanting to know more about Seb and Brie because it's palpable that the heroine doesn't think highly of vampires due to her ex? How long will it take Seb to win Brie over?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the investigation and the danger the hero and heroine face, as vampires can be quite deceptive and determined to get their way, no matter what they have to do. Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave and I liked how determined she was to help the hero, even when things became too dangerous. I also liked how she didn't give up on the hero, even though she's had a bad experience with a vampire in her past. Yet, what I liked most about the heroine was her willingness to face her past, even though Meiers Corner and vampires were two things she swore she's never have anything to do with again. While Seb, he's been through so much in his past with the danger he found himself in as a human and being turned into a vampire. However, he's resilient, courageous and I liked how determined he was to keep the heroine safe, even though she knows how to protect herself.

Overall, Ms. Hughes has penned a wonderful and enthralling read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance satisfying and full of passion that shows how good this pair are together; and the ending had me smiling because of what Seb does for the heroine that proves how much the hero wants Brie in his life, despite being adamant that love makes him weak. Really, how could he possibly think that when they're so good together? I would recommend Night's Caress by Mary Hughes, if you enjoy paranormal romance or books by authors Nina Croft, Shelly Laurenston, Mina Carter and Cynthia Eden.

In this small town, nothing is as it seems…

When artist Brie Lark left her vampire ex and her straitjacket of a hometown to breathe free in New York City, she promised herself two things: she’d never go back to Meiers Corner, and no more vampires. The last thing she expected—or wanted—was to be sent back home on an assignment. But her boss at the FBI needs her undercover on a murder case, working with a black-haired, black-eyed giant god of a man who’s her idea of perfection, except for one thing—he’s a vampire.

FBI Special Agent Seb Rikare is an ancient vampire hardened by loss. He’s cut all emotions to protect himself and leads a deliberately steady, almost sterile life. The brash young woman forced to pose as his lover irritates him, with her jangling bracelets and colorful hair. But as much as she irritates him, he finds himself drawn to her lively spirit and he’s tempted to make fantasy a reality.

I was intensely aware I was alone in a bedroom with Seb Rikare.

My whole body clenched.

His eyes changed. Heated. Darkened.

I swallowed hard. My heart started to beat faster. What would it be like to caress the silky-looking skin of his face? Nibble that honed jaw? Touch my mouth to those perfect, masculine lips? All I had to do was take a few short steps to find out.

I took one without even knowing it.

His nostrils flared and he drew in an excited breath.

He wants me, too. At the thought, my belly thrilled and my heart thumped hard. He’d touch me in return. Hold me secure in his strong arms. Cup my face in his big hands, press his lips to mine, communicating his need in a passionate kiss.

I took another step toward him.

He took a single, unconscious step toward me.

Oh, yeah. In that moment, I wanted to play with fire.

Sure, Derek had me under his spell within weeks. Seb, as strong and handsome as he was, could no doubt do it in days.

But just once wouldn’t hurt, right? I wanted to, so badly.

Couldn’t I touch him once, to see if his skin was silk or cream? Nibble his jaw, to test how honed it was? Taste his mouth, to satisfy the curiosity burning in my body?

Just a taste.

Somehow, while I argued with myself, my curious feet had brought me to stand before him. He gazed down at me. At nearly six feet myself, I was usually the one looking down. Even with me in heels, he was over half a foot taller. The novel experience sent another thrill through me.

I made a small noise, like a whimper.

His black eyes lit with fire, a hunger so primal I could see it burning in his gaze. His hands rose. Slowly, so I could have stopped him, he cupped my face in both his hands. My whole face. Damn, the man had big hands. He bent closer, his intent clear.

He was going to kiss me.

RELEASE WEEK BLITZ - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: SAVAGE RISING by KATIE REUS

Today we have the release week blitz of Savage Rising by Katie Reus! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Savage Rising
Redemption Harbor #2
By Katie Reus
Releasing September 26th, 2017
Self- Published

In Savage Rising (Redemption Harbor #2) by Katie Reus, years ago Olivia made mistakes she wished she hadn't. Now her past is coming back to haunt her and unless she finds a way to work alongside Zac Savage, she'll have no hope of overcoming the trouble that's coming. However, with the clock ticking and danger closing in, Olivia and Zac may find themselves in too deep. Will Zac be able to protect Olivia from the danger, or will their happy ever after be thwarted?

With the first book of this series utterly engaging and getting to know several of the secondary characters in it, I couldn't wait to read what would happen next for the Redemption Harbor crew and learn more about their bond, and I've got to say that this story does not disappoint. Really, it was extremely entertaining, fast-paced and had me on the edge-of-my-seat when Olivia and Zac face the danger they do. The way this story started sets the fast-pace of this story and had me hooked, as Zac is full of surprises with what he's done in his life. However, it was from the moment the heroine was introduced into this story that had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether Zac and Olivia would be able to find a way to work together, considering the way they meet and Olivia's need to defend herself when it comes to Zac judging her.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to everything this couple go through such as whether Olivia still is as good as she once when it comes to the skills needed to pull off the job someone wants her for. However, the dialogue isn't all intense. There are moments that warmed my heart, especially when Zac interacts with the heroine's daughter and when the main and secondary characters are conversing. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to protect those she cares about, even if it means putting herself in danger and the possibility of being caught by those that could put her in jail. I also liked how good of a mother she was and that she would do anything for her daughter, even if it meant making contingency plans if things didn't go her way when it came to working with the bad guys she was forced to work with.

While Zac, he's been through a lot in his life and it's understandable why he doesn't do relationships since his mother didn't set the best example when it came to finding happiness. I also liked the bond between the hero and the heroine's daughter, which was adorable, especially when Zac does something really nice for her when it comes to something she'll miss. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is how protective he was of the heroine and how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though he tried to deny what was between the pair to those he trusted most.

Overall, Ms. Reus has penned another exciting and thrilling ride in this story where the chemistry between this couple was strong, stimulating and had me wondering how long it would take Zac to win the heroine over completely; and where the romance was nicely-detailed and had me loving every moment as Zac showed Olivia that she could trust him. The way this story ended had me concerned for both the main characters because of the trouble they face, but I loved how the epilogue wrapped things up perfectly, as Olivia and Zac deserve all the happiness they've achieved. I would recommend Savage Rising by Katie Reus, if you enjoy romantic suspense or books by authors Katie Ruggle, Melinda Leigh, Kendra Elliott and Susan Stoker.

From USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus comes the second book in the ALL NEW Redemption Harbor series where sparks fly and so do bullets. He's a former Marine, her new fake boyfriend, and the only way to escape her dangerous past.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ: PLAYING WITH FOREVER by AMY ANDREWS

Today is the release day blitz for PLAYING WITH FOREVER by Amy Andrews!
Check it out and grab your copy today!

Playing with Forever
Sydney Smoke #4
By Amy Andrews
Releasing September 25th, 2017
Entangled Publishing

In Playing with Forever (Sydney Smoke #4) by Amy Andrews, saddled with a dog he doesn't want but is conned into keeping for a few weeks, Ryder Davis finds the dog ignores him whenever he gives the dog a command. Needing help, he turns to Juliet Morgan; a woman that knows how to coax the dog into doing anything she asks. However, it's not long before she goes from helping Ryder with the dog to him helping her out of her clothes and into his bed. But with Juliet's heart set on visiting Italy in two months time for an extended period of time, will he be able to convince Juliet that they deserve a shot at happy ever after, or are her plans too set in stone for her to give Ryder anything more than sex?

I have loved every single book of this series, but for me this story is the best by far, as Ryder and Juliet are wonderful characters with such fierce chemistry that I could not put this book down for even a second. The way this story started had me wanting to laugh at Ryder because of his reaction to the coach's daughter and whether she'll get her way. Will Ryder give in to what she wants him to do? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine met that had me instantly liking these two together.

As for the dialogue, it was well-written, compelling and  had me laughing at times due to the Star Wars references. However, it was the main characters back stories and their growing relationship that I really enjoyed and had me reading quickly, wanting to know more about the heroine and why she has her heart set on going to Italy. Furthermore, Juliet was strong and brave for getting through what happened with her mom and I liked her determination to follow through on her plans, even though it's palpable she was falling for Ryder and knew it wasn't going to be easy to leave him. I also liked how the heroine knew what she wanted and went after it, especially since the last man she was with used her. While Ryder, he's confident and I liked how he chased his dream of playing Rugby, even though it's palpable he loves his family and country life. I also liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, because not only does he need her to help him with the dog, but he needs her in his life, as she's different to any woman he's ever been with. For one thing, she's not a fan of sports.

Overall, Ms. Andrews has penned a wonderful and captivating read in this book where the secondary characters bring a little extra something special to this story; the chemistry was powerful between this couple; the romance hot and illustrated just how right these two are for each other; and the ending had me loving how the heroine realized she was completely in love with Ryder. Furthermore, I also liked what the heroine did to win the hero back, as her creative side definitely shines. I would recommend Playing with Forever by Amy Andrews, if you enjoy sports romances or books by authors Sinclair Jayne, Samanthe Beck, Tessa Bailey and Nina Croft.

Country boy, Ryder Davis has the world at his feet. A stellar rugby career, a winning way with women and a beach view that keeps him in blue sky and bikini babes. He's living the dream. The last thing he needs is a Great Dane called Tiny destroying his feng shui.

Dog whisperer, Juliet Morgan is about to start living her dream and she's counting down the days. In two months she'll finally be moving to Italy and no man's going to stop her this time. Not even a rugby superstar with a badly behaved pooch. But when Ryder skids into the animal shelter looking for help Juliet agrees to assist him with his canine issues.

Pretty soon they're assisting each other out of their clothes and tumbling headlong into a sex thing with an expiry date. Neither of them expected it to become more. But when for now starts to feel like forever Juliet hits the panic button. Ryder knows he has to play the long game and let her walk away.

After all it's not over until the final hooter sounds and all's fair in love and rugby. Each book in the Sydney Smoke Rugby series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: THEN CAME YOU by JEANNIE MOON

Don’t miss THEN CAME YOU,
book 1 in Jeannie Moon’s new Compass Cove series!

In THEN CAME YOU, a few meddling family members and a little bit of small town magic help two lost hearts find a second chance at love.  Fans of Susan Wiggs and RaeAnne Thayne will be enchanted by the Compass Cove series from International Bestselling Author, Jeannie Moon.

Then Came You
Compass Cove #1
By Jeannie Moon
Releasing September 26th, 2017
Tule Publishing

In Then Came You (Compass Cove #1) by Jeannie Moon, when her sister died, Mia DeAngelis became her nephew's guardian. Determined to provide a better life for her ten-year-old nephew, Ben, than what she had with a mother that was never proud of her, Mia has moved to Compass Cove to live with her grandmother. Meeting a man wasn't in Mia's plan, but how can Mia say no to spending time with Adam Miller, especially when he's so good with Ben. Will Adam be able to win Mia's heart, or will they lose their chance at happy ever after?

Ms. Moon has such wonderful talent for writing fascinating and mesmeric characters that draw me -- as a reader -- in from the beginning; and riveting dialogue that had me wondering whether the hero would win the heroine over, as he certainly bungles his chances along the way. The way this story started had me really enjoying the relationship between the heroine and her nephew, as she would do anything to protect him and help him have a good life. Will she be able to make him understand where she's coming from when it comes to what they're talking about? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that had me amused due to Adam's reaction to Mia. Certainly, she's not the stereotypical librarian with glasses and her hair in a bun.

As for the dialogue, it kept me entertained from start to finish because of the main characters back stories, their growing relationship and the obstacles they face on their journey to happy ever after. Will Adam be able to make things right when he manages to stuff things up with Mia? Moreover, the heroine is strong and brave and I liked how she finally stood up to her mother when it came to the woman's criticisms. I also liked how she challenged the hero when it seemed he wasn't doing everything in his power to show her how much she means to him, which is proven when he does something that leaves her upset with him. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her relationship with her nephew and how far she's willing to go to make sure she doesn't lose him.

While the hero, he's done well for himself when it comes to his career, considering what he went through in his past. I also liked the growing bond between the hero and the heroine's nephew, especially because he's there for the young boy in a time of need. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his willingness to fight for his relationship with Mia and that he didn't give up when times got tough. Times such as the hero's ex and her nastiness towards Mia and when Mia has to fight for her rights when it comes to Ben.

Overall, Ms. Moon has penned an enthralling and delightful read in this book where this couple's chemistry was wonderful, the romance nicely-detailed and did justice to this couple's incredible chemistry; and the ending had me liking what the heroine did to her late sister's jerk of an ex and her determination to win back Adam, because she knew he was right when it came to what she needed to do to ensure Ben stayed with her forever. I would recommend Then Came You by Jeannie Moon, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Jill Shalvis, Melissa Storm, Erin Nicholas and Roxanne St. Claire.

Hearts meant to love will always find each other.
Mia DeAngelis knew it was time to make a change. Wanting to provide a better life for herself and her ten-year-old nephew, Ben, she took a chance and moved to the small town of Compass Cove. Now, the college librarian is adapting to a new job, a new town, and living with her feisty seventy-eight-year-old grandmother. Mia is determined to make it all work, hoping the coastal hamlet gives both her and Ben the sense of community, family and belonging they both want so much.
Adam Miller, a retired NFL quarterback, has come back to Compass Cove to start over after an injury puts an end to his high-octane life. Settling into the small town routine proves to be a challenge, but his job coaching at Jennings College gives him a sense of purpose, while keeping him connected to the game he loves.
There couldn’t be two people more different, yet the minute they meet, friends and family have no doubt they belong together. Now if Mia and Adam can only get out of their own way and embrace a little home town magic, they can find the happy ever after they both crave…
