In Then Came You (Compass Cove #1) by Jeannie Moon, when her sister died, Mia DeAngelis became her nephew's guardian. Determined to provide a better life for her ten-year-old nephew, Ben, than what she had with a mother that was never proud of her, Mia has moved to Compass Cove to live with her grandmother. Meeting a man wasn't in Mia's plan, but how can Mia say no to spending time with Adam Miller, especially when he's so good with Ben. Will Adam be able to win Mia's heart, or will they lose their chance at happy ever after?
Ms. Moon has such wonderful talent for writing fascinating and mesmeric characters that draw me -- as a reader -- in from the beginning; and riveting dialogue that had me wondering whether the hero would win the heroine over, as he certainly bungles his chances along the way. The way this story started had me really enjoying the relationship between the heroine and her nephew, as she would do anything to protect him and help him have a good life. Will she be able to make him understand where she's coming from when it comes to what they're talking about? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that had me amused due to Adam's reaction to Mia. Certainly, she's not the stereotypical librarian with glasses and her hair in a bun.
As for the dialogue, it kept me entertained from start to finish because of the main characters back stories, their growing relationship and the obstacles they face on their journey to happy ever after. Will Adam be able to make things right when he manages to stuff things up with Mia? Moreover, the heroine is strong and brave and I liked how she finally stood up to her mother when it came to the woman's criticisms. I also liked how she challenged the hero when it seemed he wasn't doing everything in his power to show her how much she means to him, which is proven when he does something that leaves her upset with him. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her relationship with her nephew and how far she's willing to go to make sure she doesn't lose him.
While the hero, he's done well for himself when it comes to his career, considering what he went through in his past. I also liked the growing bond between the hero and the heroine's nephew, especially because he's there for the young boy in a time of need. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his willingness to fight for his relationship with Mia and that he didn't give up when times got tough. Times such as the hero's ex and her nastiness towards Mia and when Mia has to fight for her rights when it comes to Ben.
Overall, Ms. Moon has penned an enthralling and delightful read in this book where this couple's chemistry was wonderful, the romance nicely-detailed and did justice to this couple's incredible chemistry; and the ending had me liking what the heroine did to her late sister's jerk of an ex and her determination to win back Adam, because she knew he was right when it came to what she needed to do to ensure Ben stayed with her forever. I would recommend Then Came You by Jeannie Moon, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Jill Shalvis, Melissa Storm, Erin Nicholas and Roxanne St. Claire.

Hearts meant to
love will always find each other.
Mia DeAngelis knew it was time to make a change. Wanting to provide a
better life for herself and her ten-year-old nephew, Ben, she took a chance and
moved to the small town of Compass Cove. Now, the college librarian is adapting
to a new job, a new town, and living with her feisty seventy-eight-year-old
grandmother. Mia is determined to make it all work, hoping the coastal hamlet
gives both her and Ben the sense of community, family and belonging they both
want so much.
Adam Miller, a retired NFL quarterback, has come back to Compass Cove
to start over after an injury puts an end to his high-octane life. Settling
into the small town routine proves to be a challenge, but his job coaching at
Jennings College gives him a sense of purpose, while keeping him connected to
the game he loves.
There couldn’t be two people more different, yet the minute they meet,
friends and family have no doubt they belong together. Now if Mia and Adam can
only get out of their own way and embrace a little home town magic, they can
find the happy ever after they both crave…
