REVIEW: BAD INFLUENCE by STEFANIE LONDON

Bad Influence
Bad Bachelors #3
By Stefanie London
Releasing February 26th, 2019
Sourcebooks Casablanca

In Bad Influence (Bad Bachelors #3) by Stefanie London, Annie Maxwell and Joe Preston were so in love, but they ended up going their separate ways with Joe leaving at a time when Annie needed him the most. However, now Joe is back in New York and determined to make things right with Annie. Except he finds that might be impossible, especially considering everything she's done after he left that has now brought trouble into her life. Will Joe be able to help Annie and keep her safe or will they lose their second chance at happy ever after because she can't forgive him?

Being a total fan of Ms. London's books, I've got to say that this is her best series yet. With each book entertaining me from start to finish because of the fantastic characters, compelling dialogue and wonderfully-crafted plots that had me loving the challenges each couple face to be together. The way this story started with the prologue had me sympathizing with Annie and Joe, as Annie has a tough choice to make. Did she make the right one? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine are reunited where this story really takes off because Joe is determined to push Annie's buttons.

As for the dialogue, it was highly entertaining and a wonderful combination of intense moments due to the main characters back stories, the threats Annie is receiving and the protectiveness of the heroine's friends and family that don't make it easy for Annie to forgive and forget how badly Joe hurt her when they went their separate ways years earlier; and playful banter that had me enjoying the growing relationship between Joe and Annie, as they find their way back together. Furthermore, I loved the range of emotion Ms. London brought to this story, which had me smiling, laughing, wanting to cry and left me with happy tears, as this couple overcome the tough obstacles they face to be together. Will Joe be able to win Annie and her family and friends over? Will Joe be able to help Annie get to the bottom of who is threatening her? Will Joe be able to finally make his parents understand that Annie is the one he wants to be with and will they accept her as part of the Preston family?

With the main characters, I absolutely loved Joe. He's smart, driven, hard-working and I liked how determined he was to win Annie over because he's never gotten over her and feels guilty for leaving when she needed him most. I also liked the decisions Joe makes throughout this story to show Annie that she'll always be the one he puts first from now on. No way will he let his family come between them. While the heroine, she's resilient, courageous and I liked how she handled Joe being back in her life. Then again, she has the help of good friends to support her. Furthermore, it's understandable why she was a little bitter over Joe leaving her and why she built the app she did to save other women from heartbreak. However, she never could have imagined how many problems it would create for her, especially someone threatening her. Will Joe be able to help Annie get to the bottom of who is threatening her before she gets hurt? Will Annie put her trust in Joe again because he's the only one that can help her?

Overall, Ms. London has delivered a fun, delightful and charming read in this book where emotions run high; the chemistry between this couple was off-the-charts; the romance was full of exquisite heat and passion and had me loving that these two find their way back to each other; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to fight for his future with Annie. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as Annie finally has everything she's ever wanted for her life -- Joe, the support of friends and family, and finally making her dream come true of helping people. I would recommend Bad Influence by Stefanie London, if you enjoy contemporary romance with a touch of suspense, the second chance romance trope or books by authors Avery Flynn, Naima Simone, Erin Nicholas and Kristen Proby.

He's the bad bachelor who inspired it all...

Annie Maxwell had her whole life figured out...until her fiance left her when his career took off. If that wasn't bad enough, every society blog posted pictures of him escorting a woman wearing her engagement ring. To help the women of New York avoid guys like her ex, Annie created the Bad Bachelors app. But try as she might, Annie just can't forget him...

For bank executive Joe Preston, his greatest mistake was leaving the love of his life when she needed him most. Now, all he wants is to make things right--and she won't have him. But when Annie's safety is threatened by a hacker determined to bring down her app, Joe is the only one she can turn to. He'll have to lay himself on the line to prove to Annie that he's a changed man. But will their hard-won bond survive the revelation that Annie is the one pulling the strings behind Bad Bachelors?

In One More Moment (Band on the Run #3) by Samantha Chase, taking time off from the band and the spotlight is the right thing for Julian Grayson. He needs time to sort through the anger and get past it after the betrayal of his bride-to-be, but it isn't easy since her betrayal has cost him a lot. However, the moment he meets Charlotte Clark, he finds he's more alive than he's ever been, especially since she doesn't know who he is. Yet, the more time they spend together, the more Julian discovers how different Charlotte and his ex are. Will Julian be able to convince Charlotte to take a chance on him or will she walk away from her chance at happy ever after because Julian doesn't realize why she doesn't need anything else but him?

This is the first book I've read of this series, and I've got to say that it was absolutely engrossing, fast-paced and a story I was totally charmed by because of the wonderful main characters; the compelling dialogue that had me loving this couple's growing relationship, their back stories and the obstacles they face to be together; and the secondary characters that entertained me just as much as the main ones because they would do anything for Julian.

The way this story started with the prologue had me sympathizing with the hero because how could his bride-to-be believe she could get away with everything she was doing and I liked that he wasn't about to continue to let her get away with everything she's done to him. Was the way he goes about exposing her too much? However, it was from the moment where Julian and Charlotte come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as Julian can't believe anyone could be as generous as the heroine without a motive. Will he find she's just a good person?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially that of the hero, because he's angry for what his ex did to him and it's made him question everything and has him wondering who he can trust. Moreover, I really liked both the main characters. They had me reading this story quickly, determined to discover more about them and what obstacles they would face to be together. Will Julian realize that all Charlotte wants is him before it's too late? Certainly, she's nothing like his ex in needing to be given something extravagant every time something goes wrong between them.

With the heroine, she's resilient, hard-working, kind, caring and I liked how determined she was to help Julian, even though it seems he doesn't need her help. He's not helpless, but just angry at life. Will the hero be able to overcome his issues? I also liked how good Charlotte is for Julian because he needs to get past what's happened. No way can he keep going like he's going. He needs to face the past if he's to ever have a future with her. While the hero, he's struggling to move on from what his ex did and I could understand why he finds it hard to trust people. Still, I liked the hero's progression, as he begins to live life again by helping the heroine and then realizing that music is still very important to him. Really, it isn't easy for him to give up, no matter how much he thinks giving up his music career will help him to move forward with his life.

Overall, Ms. Chase has delivered a well-written and wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was delightful and sweet and shows how good these two are together; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to win back Charlotte after their relationship goes awry. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as I liked how far Julian's come since meeting Charlotte. I would recommend One More Moment by Samantha Chase, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Erin McCarthy, Erin Nicholas, Melanie Shawn and Melissa Foster.

Wes Evans, son of Broadway royalty, just wants to achieve something without riding on his family's coattails. Too bad the whole world is talking about his sex life after the notorious Bad Bachelors app dubs him "The Anaconda." But when he sees a talented ballet dancer, he knows she is exactly what he needs to make his show a success.

Remi Drysdale only had one thought when she fled Australia for New York--never mix business with pleasure again. Ever. She gets the perfect chance to reclaim her career when a handsome stranger asks her to audition for his show. Remi promises herself not to tangle with the guy who holds her career in his hands...no matter how enticing his reviews are on the Bad Bachelors app...

In Bad Reputation (Bad Bachelors #2) by Stefanie London, Wes Evans has decided it's time to start living his dreams instead of doing what his parents wants him to do. However, finding the right person to be the star of his show and getting his show launched isn't as easy as he thought it would be until he meets Remi Drysdale and asks her to audition. Since clearly, she's the best woman for the lead role. Will Wes and Remi be able to work together and get their shot at happy ever after or will Remi walk away before history has a chance to repeat itself?

Ms. London writes such incredible books with great characters, dialogue that always manages to draw me in from the very beginning and offers a wonderful combination of intense moments, playful banter and plenty of passion; and a fast-paced plot that encompasses tough obstacles for the hero and heroine to overcome in order to achieve their happy ever after and this story was no different. Really, the way this story started had me smiling immediately because of the conversation that sounds juicy, but turns out to be quite innocent. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where things really take off for this story, as Remi doesn't trust easily and doesn't know whether giving Wes a chance is the right thing to do, especially with everything she's been through in her past. She's been burned badly before.

As for the dialogue, it was compelling, intense and emotionally-animating due to the main characters back stories and what's happening to Wes because of the Bad Bachelor app. However, there's also the situation with Remi's friends that had me sympathizing with her too, because of the secret they're keeping that makes her think she's not trustworthy enough to know. Will her friends put their trust in her or will their friendship be broken? Moreover, I liked the heroine's resilience, her courageousness and that she took a chance on the hero, even though history could easily repeat itself, if she gets involved with the hero and things don't work for the best between them. While the hero, he's confident, driven, persistent in his pursuit of the heroine and I liked how he handles what's going on when it comes to the Bad Bachelor app. Then again, I was a little impressed by the comments for him on the site, especially since the app dubs him 'The Anaconda'.

Overall, Ms. London has delivered an utterly engaging and memorable read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was off-the-charts; the romance was tangible and absolutely hot; and the ending had me loving the hero's determination to show Remi that he has her back always and isn't about to let anything come between them. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly because the heroine's hard work pays off. Really, through the author's words she soars and shines when it comes to her ballet. I would recommend Bad Reputation by Ms. London, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Cat Carmine, Noelle Adams, Pippa Grant and Sarina Bowen. I would also recommend this series, as the Bad Bachelor app is very interesting and doesn't shine the heroes in the best of lights, but in the end, it's absolutely delightful that the heroines see them as much, much more than just an abysmal profile.

“Anyway,” Gabriella went on, “we never found out why they had so many questions or were so curious about the whole thing, but they spent a lot of time talking to Alex.” She paused. “Come to think of it, we never asked him what it was all about.”

“You can ask him tonight,” Zach said. “He should be here any minute.” And just like that, Megan started choking again.

This time Ethan came over and patted her on the back until she caught her breath. He carefully moved her glass away. “Maybe wait a while before you try that again,” he teased. Everyone laughed, and Megan did her best to join in, but inside she felt like she was going to be sick.

“I’m good,” she said after a moment.

“You didn’t mention Alex was coming,” Gabriella said as she began putting a salad together. “I asked him if he could come help us paint this weekend, and he said yes and even volunteered to help out tonight.”

“Well, that was nice of him,” Summer said, placing Amber on her shoulder and rubbing her back.

“He’s bringing beer and dessert,” Zach said with a grin. Then he looked at Ethan. “And I thought we could shoot some hoops before dinner since the rest of the night will be a snooze fest of unscrewing switch plates and taping trim.”

“Yes!” Ethan said with relief. “I was hoping there was going to be something else to do!”

“Hey, you volunteered,” Zach reminded him. “I know, but that’s because I’m a nice guy and a good friend. Doesn’t mean I wasn’t going to be bored out of my mind,” he clarified.

“Megan, did you meet Alex at our wedding?” Gabriella asked. Immediately, she felt her cheeks warm and knew she was minutes away from a panic attack.

“Um…I don’t think so,” she said and then quickly excused herself. It wasn’t until she was in the bathroom that she finally allowed herself to breathe. She’d known she was going to see Alex eventually; she just wasn’t expecting it to be quite so soon. Looking down at herself, she groaned. Sure, he couldn’t come over after she’d gone shopping? It was impossible to do anything about what she was wearing, and as she glanced at her reflection in the mirror, she cursed the fact that she hadn’t even had the good sense to bring a little lip gloss or anything with her.

Closing her eyes, she silently counted to ten and forced herself to leave the bathroom. The doorbell rang as she was walking by the front door, so when Zach asked her to get it, how could she say no?

Letting out a slow breath, Megan reached a shaky hand toward the door and pulled it open. And basically forgot how to breathe. Yeah, he was everything she remembered and so much more—sandy-brown hair, tall, lean build, and muscles that made her want to reach out and touch them. Or lick them. Whatever. He was wearing dark sunglasses, so she had no idea if he was as surprised to see her as she was to see him, but he smiled as he softly said,

“Hey, Megan.” And just like that she was practically a puddle on the floor.

“Hey,” she said and wanted to curse how breathless she sounded. Stepping aside, she motioned for him to come in.

“Thanks.” Her cheeks heated, and she couldn’t make herself look directly at him.

“Everyone’s in the kitchen.” And when she walked past him, she could almost feel him. Swallowing hard, she led the way to where everyone was and quickly took her seat. Then she took a moment to congratulate herself on not acting like an idiot in front of him.

REVIEW: BAD BACHELOR by STEFANIE LONDON

Bad Bachelor
Bad Bachelors #1
By Stefanie London
Releasing March 6th, 2018
Sourcebooks Casablanca

Everybody’s talking about the hot new app reviewing New York’s most eligible bachelors. But why focus on prince charming when you can read the latest dirt on the lowest-ranked “Bad Bachelors”—NYC’s most notorious bad boys.

If one more person mentions Bad Bachelors to Reed McMahon, someone’s gonna get hurt. A PR whiz, Reed is known as an ‘image fixer’ but his womanizing ways have caught up with him. What he needs is a PR miracle of his own.

When Reed strolls into Darcy Greer’s workplace offering to help save the struggling library, she isn’t buying it. The prickly Brooklynite knows Reed is exactly the kind of guy she should avoid. But the library does need his help. As she reluctantly works with Reed, she realizes there’s more to a man than his reputation. Maybe, just maybe, Bad Bachelor #1 is THE one for her.

In Bad Bachelor (Bad Bachelors #1) by Stefanie London, Reed McMahon can't stand the Bad Bachelor app that's giving women a chance to warn other women about bachelors in New York and their dating antics, especially since he seems to be sitting in the number one spot of worst bachelors ever. However, when he starts working alongside Darcy Greer in order to help her generate some much needed money for the library where she works, he finds himself wanting something he's never wanted before -- the chance to settle down. Will Reed be able to convince Darcy to take a chance on him, or will he walk away to protect himself from ever getting hurt by love again?

If you've never read a book by Ms. London, then what are you waiting for? This is definitely the book to start with because not only does it launch a brand new series for this amazing author, but because this story was charming, witty and highly entertaining from start to finish due to the descriptions of the men on the app; the compelling dialogue that shows how brilliantly opposites attract; and the engrossing main characters that have so much chemistry between them and face some tough obstacles on their journey to happy ever after. Will the heroine give Reed a chance, especially when it's palpable he's not as bad as the bachelor app is making him out to be?

The way this story started had me smiling at what the women are celebrating since it seems the heroine dodged a bullet when it came to her wedding. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that had me fully hooked to this story, as the heroine is determined to challenge the hero, even though he's the expert and knows what needs to be done to help the struggling library. Will the heroine listen to Reed's suggestions? Moreover, the heroine is resilient, sassy and I liked how much of a challenge she provides for the hero, as she isn't afraid to make him see that relationships aren't all bad. I also liked the close friendship she shared with her two best friends, even though one is keeping a secret that could make Darcy upset with her.

While the hero, I felt sorry for him when it came to the bachelor app because it makes him seem like a bad guy, and I could understand why he was so determined to find out everything he could about the app. Are women deliberately making him out to be the bad guy? Is everything women are saying about him true? Furthermore, I also liked the hero's confidence, charm and his determination to prove how good he is at his job, even though it seems the bachelor app is wreaking havoc on his professional life.

Overall, Ms. London has delivered an incredible read in this book where the chemistry between Darcy and Reed is off-the-charts; the romance was hot and shows how amazingly opposites attract; and the ending had me loving how Reed makes things right between him and Darcy, especially once he discovers why someone is so determined to show how good or bad the bachelors of New York are when it comes to dating and relationships. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up brilliantly, as Darcy finally discovers the truth of the bachelor app. Yet, it was the final words between this couple that I adored and left me smiling until I picked up the next book on my to-be-read pile. I would recommend Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Debbie Mason, Samantha Chase, Sarah Morgan and Kira Archer.
