From USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus comes the next story in the explosive Redemption Harbor series where sparks fly and so do bullets…
He wasn’t supposed to fall for her…She was a target. A contract that came across his desk by mistake. Axel was simply going to warn her that she was in danger and get out. Then he got a taste of her and fell hard. But they’re from two different worlds. Not only is she innocent, she’s out of his league. He should keep his distance, but he can’t. Not when someone wants her dead. Now he’s driven to protect her, to keep her safe.
What happens when she discovers who he really is?
Hadley moved to Redemption Harbor for vet school and to be closer to her new family. Now that her billionaire father knows about her existence, her life has changed drastically. She just never imagined that she might be targeted because of her family. And she definitely never imagined she would fall for the one man she should never want. A man who kills for a living. A man who’s obsessed with her. A man who will do anything to protect her from the danger lurking in the shadows.

In Innocent Target (Redemption Harbor #4) by Katie Reus, danger isn't something Hadley is used to, but when someone targets her, there's one man determined to protect her and that's the mysterious and gorgeous Axel. However, her new family aren't all that thrilled that he's looking out for her, especially since her brother knows things about Axel that she doesn't. Will Hadley put her trust in Axel or will their chance at happy ever after never happen?
I have loved this series from the start, but this is the best book of Ms. Reus's Redemption series yet because this story combines the sexy protector and opposites attract tropes wonderfully; the main characters are fascinating and very entertaining due to their back stories and everything they go through on their journey to happy ever after, especially the fact that Hadley's brother is just as protective of her as Axel and that he doesn't want his sister anywhere near the hero. Will Axel be able to win Hadley's brother over?
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and full of suspense due to who is targeting Hadley and how far they're willing to go to acquire her. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked that she put her trust in Axel, even though what he does for a living should scare her. I also liked the close relationship the heroine shares with the secondary characters and how protective they are of her because she isn't used to being around their danger-filled word. While the hero, he's confident, protective and I liked how determined he was to win over the heroine, even though he knows he's all wrong for her. I also liked how he stood up to the secondary characters that were protective of Hadley because he's not going anywhere.
Overall, Ms. Reus has delivered an exciting and captivating read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was powerful from the moment they met; the romance was delightful and had me loving these two together; and the ending had me worried for the main characters because of the danger they face, but had me enjoying how things work out for these two. I would recommend Innocent Target by Katie Reus, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the opposites attract trope, the sexy protector trope or books by authors Kaylea Cross, Lynn Raye Harris, Susan Stoker and Missy Evans.

However, she didn’t always know she wanted to be a writer. After changing majors many times, she finally graduated summa cum laude with a degree in psychology. Not long after that she discovered a new love. Writing. She now spends her days writing dark paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense.
