Making it to the Major Leagues is all rookie ballplayer, Rob Lee, has ever dreamed of. But now, he's a little overwhelmed with his new celebrity status. Everyone wants a piece of the new heavy hitter for the Indianapolis Bobcats. Still, he's worked hard for it, and he doesn't have many regrets. Although there is one...

If journalist Heidi Wong wants to keep her job, she needs to come up with a story—fast! That's why she tells her boss that she knows the Bobcat's reclusive new slugger, Rob Lee. And she does...in the Biblical sense. During Spring Break three years ago, she and Rob shared a torrid night on the beach. And she's wanted him again ever since.

But everyone knows reporters and athletes don't mix. Rob's contract doesn't allow him to talk to the press, and her job depends on it. Which is driving them both just a little crazy…

In Hitting It (Locker Room Diaries #1) by Kathy Lyons, Heidi Wong will do anything to keep her job, even if it means writing an exclusive on a man she claims she knows better than she does. Meeting Bobcats heavy hitter Rob Lee before he made it to the Major Leagues was a dream come true until he broke her heart by wanting to go their separate ways without exchanging phone numbers. Determined to get her interview, Heidi finds she has a challenge on her hands, especially since Rob isn't allowed to talk to the press. Will Heidi get her way or will Rob break her heart all over again?

What an interesting and entertaining read Ms. Lyons has delivered in this first book of her Locker Room Diaries where the main characters were riveting due to their back stories; the compelling dialogue drew me in from the beginning and had me enjoying how this story started, as Heidi does something no one ever expected of her. Really, she's brave and shows she isn't afraid to take a chance.

With the main characters, I loved their growing relationship, as the hero knows he shouldn't get involved with the heroine, and yet, he can't seem to resist. Will he be able to win Heidi over? Moreover, the hero is confident, determined and I liked how far he was willing to go to win the heroine over, even though his options seemed impossible because if he got caught he would face consequences. While the heroine, she's resilient and I liked how determined she was to get her story. No way could she give up, especially not when she's worked so hard to get to where she is. Then again, it's no wonder she works so hard because she's proving to her parents that she doesn't need to follow the path they wanted her to in order for them to be proud of her.

Overall, Ms. Lyons has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance wonderful and had me loving the hero's determination to show the heroine that they could have something great, if she's willing to trust him; and the ending had me loving how these two make up after their relationship goes awry. Certainly, the hero was willing to risk everything to be with her. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because the heroine hit it out of the ballpark in getting everything she wanted. I would recommend Hitting It by Kathy Lyons, if you enjoy second chance romances, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Naima Simone, Amy Andrews, Kate Meader and Lauren Hawkeye.
