In Crashed Out (Made in Jersey #1) by Tessa Bailey, Sarge Purcell is determined to drive Jasmine Taveras crazy with lust, especially when she finds herself allowing him to stay with her. Furthermore, it doesn't help that he's younger than her. Yet, the more time Jasmine spends with Sarge, the more she finds she can't get him out of her head and he's slipping deeper into her heart and making it hard for her to walk away when he leaves town again. Will Jasmine be able to overcome everything she believes of why they're so wrong for each other, or will she go all in and give them the chance at happy ever after they both deserve?
I've read a few books by Ms. Bailey, but this story just didn't capture my attention the way her other books have in the past. Possibly because the hero was younger than the heroine and thinks he should have everything he wants in life, most especially the heroine. The way this story started had me sympathizing with the hero, as he's back in his hometown and doesn't know how to feel about it. Then again, that saying 'Home is where the Heart is' sort of rings true, as Sarge has always felt something for Jasmine, which is proven by everything he's written over the years he's been gone building his career as a musician.
The dialogue flowed really well, but I felt this story was all romance and not much else. I also thought the hero was too cocky for his own good. Yet, in saying that, I did love how well the hero has done for himself and his songs did sound interesting. While the heroine, I could understand why she's a little jealous of the hero's success, because she's just as good when it comes to music as he is and I liked how the hero helped her find her way back to music. Seriously, Sarge was absolutely captivating in those moments.
Overall, Ms. Bailey has delivered a good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance full of spice and heavy with passion; and the ending had me thrilled by the decision the heroine made. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as the hero and heroine have come so far, especially when it comes to their love for music and the pair both getting what they want. Fans of Kendall Ryan, Katee Robert, Joya Ryan and Christina Phillips will enjoy Crashed Out.

His inspiration. His torment. And his
temptation…
Jasmine Taveras is the reason Sarge Purcell
grabbed his six-string and bailed the hell out of New Jersey four years ago.
She’s the fuel for every song he’s ever written—each one laced with bitter,
hard-edged, hungry lust. Now, with his hugely successful band
on temporary hiatus, Sarge is determined to prove to Jasmine that this “kid”
turned into every inch the man she’s always needed…
Men are slim pickings for a single factory girl
in Hook, New Jersey…until tall, broad-shouldered hotness walks—or rather storms—into
Jasmine’s life. Sarge’s return shouldn’t affect her this way. He’s her best
friend’s much younger kid brother, and the kind of rough, gritty, sexiness
Jasmine has no right to taste for herself. Even if he lets her.
But lust is a blinding, insatiable force. And
when it crashes, it will take both Sarge and Jasmine down with it…
