What a captivatingly fun, fast-paced read this first book in Ms. Jennings Brick Square series was, which provided plenty of emotion due to the main characters back stories and had me smiling due to the heroine's feisty and flirty attitude that gets the hero to unwind and let his guard down. The way this story started with the heroine going after what she wants had me hooked to this story immediately to see if the hero would give her a chance, even though he believes she's brought trouble right to his doorstep. Will they be able to deceive those that want to know who she is? What will happen when someone uncovers her past?

The dialogue was well-written, a nice combination of intense and playful that made me laugh and had me wanting to cry at times. Neither Rosco or Kitty had it easy growing up with her mom and his dad caring more about themselves than their kids. They had to grow up quickly and then learn to cope with the pain of losing their loved ones, which makes it understandable why neither want anything to do with relationships when all they've witnessed is how relationships can cause so much pain and heartache. However, I liked how the playful banter between the hero and heroine balanced out the sadness of their back stories, especially when Kitty saves Rosco from both his aunts matchmaking.

Strong chemistry made this story a worthwhile read, although the romance doesn't go into a lot of descriptive detail. Still, I loved every moment that Rosco and Kitty interacted and couldn't wait to discover what would happen at the critical moment in the story where their relationship fell apart? Would Kitty be able to cope with the outcome, because it was palpable that whatever happened was going to have more of an effect on her than Rosco. As for the hero, he's confident and a little bit of a control freak, yet the latter was a trait I loved in him. It showed he was protective of his family, and wasn't about to let anything ruin his sister's wedding. While the heroine, she was a wonderful character. She's good for the hero in the way she gets him to step out of his comfort zone and have a little fun; something -- it seems -- he isn't all that used to. Also, she's strong, brave and I liked how determined she is to show Rosco she's good at her job.

Overall, Ms. Jennings has penned a delightful read in this book where the secondary characters give great advice and aren't afraid to show they care through their actions whether they're matchmaking or acting in the best interests of the hero or heroine. The way this story ended was perfect, as Rosco really proves to Kitty how much he loves her by what he does both personally and professionally. I would recommend Tangling with the London Tycoon by Suzi Jennings, if you enjoy the fake relationship trope or the matchmaker trope.

Rosco Redmond was an opportunity Kitty couldn’t afford to mess up.

The door to his Georgian town house lacked any attempt at welcome. It faced the world with immaculate London style—glossy black paint against warm cream stone—handsome but unadorned.

The peaceful, exclusive inner city cobblestone street oozed understated elegance. Its sweep of heritage buildings an oasis of secluded tranquility, just a few blocks away from London’s hectic commercial center.
