In Dirty Like Brody (Dirty #2) by Jaine Diamond, Jessa Mayes turned her back on Dirty; the hottest rock band ever to escape her past. However, she isn't sure the glamorous life of being a model is what she wants anymore. Not when she comes face-to-face with the man she's always wanted after six years apart. But finding happiness with Brody Mason means facing the past and confessing the painful secret she's kept from everyone. Will she have the strength to admit why she chose to run rather than tell Brody the truth, so the two of them can have a second shot at happy ever after?

Having absolutely loved the first book of this series, I couldn't wait to read more about the heroes of the band Dirty and the women they fall in love with in this one and I've got to say that this story was just as charismatic and captivating from start to finish as the first book, Dirty Like Me. Yet, where Dirty Like Me was fun and flirty, this story was so full of angst and a lot more emotional due to the history between this couple, the heroine's fears if she lets anyone get too close, and whether the hero can overcome his fear that she'll leave again. Can Brody convince Jessa to stick around this time? Will Jessa ever feel like she's part of the Dirty family; a bond that goes beyond being blood related?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially that of the heroine. She did a lot in her past that she's not proud of and which took her down a path she wished she'd never resorted to. Especially since it made her feel ashamed the more she continued to spiral out of control with her need to diminish the hurts of what she was going through in her life. How is she supposed to tell Brody and her brother the truth when it may make them look at her differently? However, I liked that Jessa has overcome her past to create an incredible career she should be so proud of. Seriously, it shows how resilient and courageous she is, and that even though she may still have a ways to go when it comes to making things right with those she loves, I liked the challenge she faced. Brody did not make things easy for her from the moment they came face-to-face. His words were painful, but necessary to make Jessa realize how much she'd hurt him, considering how close they were growing up.

While Brody, he was a fascinating hero that I loved from the moment he entered this story. He's been through so much in his life, and the band members of Dirty and those associated with the band have been more of a family to him than his own ever were. Really, I loved the tight bond he shared with Jesse and Jessa over the years, especially the one between he and Jessa because it's palpable how much he cared for her growing up and even more so as they got older. I also liked that Brody wasn't willing to be strung along by Jessa, and that if she felt she couldn't trust him enough, then there way no point of them being together. Will Jessa tell Brody everything about her past before it's too late?

Overall, Ms. Diamond has penned another wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between these two was extremely strong from the moment they came face-to-face for the first time in years, and spilled over onto the pages explosively in scorching sex scenes that revealed how much these two have missed each other and how they shouldn't let anything keep them apart. The way this story ended had me loving the secondary characters just as much as the main ones, because Maggie helps Jessa so much with her advice and her need to protect the heroine against Brody, if he reacts badly to things that come to light about Jessa's past. Yet, what I liked most is how things worked out between the hero and heroine, as they're a couple meant to be. Certainly, Brody knows how to impress Jessa with his actions and his words.

Furthermore, the epilogue made things interesting for the next book of this series. Will one of the secondary characters earn his redemption? Will he be accepted by those that once considered him family? I would recommend Dirty Like Brody by Jaine Diamond, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors AL Jackson, Kristen Callihan or Kylie Scott.

  1. I loved the first book of this series. Katie is still one of the best heroines I've ever read. Can't wait to read this book because of Jessa in Dirty Like Me.
