The List #2

This is a test. A test of every life decision Lisa Michaels has ever made.
Lisa thought she’d gotten everything right: The nicest condo, the right career, the best hair, and a perfectly adequate sex life with her stockbroker fiancé. But when the fiancé ditches her at the altar, Lisa’s left questioning every decision she’s ever made. What if her instincts have been steering her wrong all along? And what if she tested that theory by spending one month doing the exact opposite of what she’d normally do?
A crazy-hot fling with a tattooed steelworker from the wrong side of the tracks seems like a good starting point...

In The Test (The List #2) by Tawna Fenske, Lisa Michaels is ready for a change and what better way to do that than to do everything the opposite of how she does things in her life. Her first adventure in her test is to go for the kind of guy she'd never go for and that's where Dex Kensington comes in. However, Lisa never imagined she'd find a guy worth taking a chance on forever again. Will Dax and Lisa achieve happy ever after, or will the hurts of their pasts hold them back from ever giving each other a chance at forever?
I've only recently started reading this author's books, but I've got to say I've loved the ones I've read so far and this story was an amusing and very entertaining read that drew me in from the beginning, as Lisa is determined to have some fun and forget about her problems. Most especially the fact that her fiancé left her at the altar. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that had me completely hooked because of what Lisa says to Dex and his reaction. Talk about getting her point across in a way that he'd definitely understand.
Both the main characters were captivating and I loved every moment they were in each other's company, as their banter had me smiling or laughing. Moreover, I liked how the heroine went after what she wanted and what she wanted was Dex, even though she's adamant that their relationship will only last until she's completed what she classes as 'the Test'. I also liked how she wasn't afraid to try different things to what she's used to, because it shows she's not always the princess that Dex thinks she is. Certainly, he challenges her to experience what it's like to do things the opposite of what she would usually do. Will she be daring enough to do everything he asks, especially when it comes to a certain article of clothing?
While the hero, he's had it tough and I could understand why he hates when people make the wrong assumptions about him. However, in saying that, I liked that he was strong enough to brave situations that he normally wouldn't, even though it makes him uncomfortable. I also liked how willing he was to help the heroine on her quest and that he pushed her out of her comfort zone. Certainly, the heroine needed some fun in her life and Dex definitely knows how to provide a good time. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was how loyal he is and that he didn't turn his back on his brother after the guy did something bad that landed him in prison.
Overall, Ms. Fenske has delivered an absolutely engaging read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was delightful; the romance full of exquisite heat and passion that shows how right these two are for each other; and the ending had me loving what Dex does to win Lisa back. It's trickery at it's best. Luckily, Lisa is a good sport about it. I would recommend The Test by Tawna Fenske, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Amy Andrews, Avery Flynn, Samanthe Beck and Alice Gaines.
