On the rocky, atmospheric coast of Cape Van Buren, Maine...

After a decade of making it on her own, Irish immigrant, Blayne MacCaffrey is determined to return to her homeland and make peace with her father, who hasn’t forgiven her for deserting the family—for what she believed was true love. Her ticket home is in the bag with the launch of the Archer Conservation Park of Cape Van Buren. Only she must partner with the devastatingly sexy heartbreaker who first awakened her desires and unequivocally destroyed her dreams years ago.

Believing that family duty comes before everything else, James Astor made the biggest mistake of his life and had abandoned the only woman he'd ever loved. But after a decade of lucrative business transactions and empty relationships, he returns to the Cape, determined to show Blayne how perfect they are together and why he’s worth falling in love with all over again.

A second chance at first love is a dream neither can bear to lose again. With a past marred by painful mistakes, can they find the courage to forgive and fight for love? Or are these two souls destined to repeat history?

In Honor on the Cape (On the Cape, Cape Van Buren #2) by MK Meredith, ten years ago Blayne MacCaffrey and James Astor were so in love, but then he deserted her and left her heartbroken. Now though, the pair are reunited to help in the launch of the Archer Conservation Park of Cape Van Buren, but working together isn't easy for Blayne, especially when it's so hard for her to forgive James for what he did in the past. Will Blayne let down her guard and let James back into her life, or will their second chance at happy ever after never happen?

There are so many words I could use to describe how enchanted I was with this second book in Ms. Meredith's On the Cape series, but the words that first came to mind when I finished this story were: absolutely amazing, emotionally animating and unputdownable. Really, it took me less than two hours to finish this book, which opened brilliantly as Blayne is determined to prove she's the best person for helping to launch the Archer Conservation Park and organizing everything that needs to be done. Will she be able to prove she's up to the task? However, it was from the moment where the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story gets really interesting, as Blayne can't believe she's forced to work alongside the man that broke her heart. Will she be able to work alongside Jamie in order to help her best friend achieve her dream?

As for the dialogue, it was the perfect combination of intense moments due to the main characters back stories and their history and teasing banter that had me loving that Blayne doesn't make things easy for Jamie no matter how hard he works to win her back. Moreover, the heroine is resilient and courageous when it comes to her dealings with Jamie in order to get what she wants and what she wants is for him to bow out of the project. Will she get her way? I also liked how determined she was to ignore the intense chemistry she still has with Jamie because he hurt her badly in the past and it isn't easy for her to forgive him. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her determination to make things right with her family after what happened between her and her father.

While the hero, he's confident, smart, isn't afraid to remind the heroine of the past and how good they were together, and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine back. I also liked the friendship both the hero and heroine share with the secondary characters because they want the pair to be happy. Then again, sound advice is always good when needed and these two definitely need it at times. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was how he proved to the heroine that she is the most important person in his life, which he does with the ideas he has for their future.

Overall, Ms. Meredith has penned a must read book in this story where the chemistry between this couple was off-the-charts and spills over onto the pages in explosively hot sex scenes that prove how hard it is for these two to keep their hands off each other; and the ending had me loving both the main characters determination to make things right between them because they deserve a second chance at happy ever after. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up brilliantly because of what the hero does for the heroine to have everyone she loves present for a very special moment. I would recommend Honor on the Cape by MK Meredith, if you love contemporary romance, the second chance romance trope, or books by authors Catherine Bybee, Marina Adair, Jill Sanders and Kimberly Kincaid.
